Job Overview:

Join the dedicated healthcare team at Community Medical Center as a Per Diem Registered Dietitian in our Dietary Management department. In this vital role, you will deliver optimal clinical nutrition services, design specialized care plans, and provide impactful nutrition education to patients, families, and the local community. This position offers a rewarding opportunity for a collaborative clinician committed to continuous service improvement, patient satisfaction, and professional growth within an acute care setting.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science or an advanced degree with major studies in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Registered Dietitian (RD) credential accredited through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Strong baseline of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary medical teams.
  • Demonstrated capability in independent time management, clinical prioritization, and organizing tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Prior clinical experience conducting nutrition assessments and managing therapeutic care plans within an acute care hospital environment.
  • Experience leading interactive group nutrition education programs, community health fairs, or speaking engagements.
  • Proficiency in navigating electronic health records for medical documentation and tracking patient outcomes.

Scheduling Requirements

  • Status: Per Diem (PD) Day

Essential Functions:

  • Clinical Assessments & Care Plans: Reviews medical records, assesses complex patient needs, and implements appropriate, individualized nutrition care plans to provide optimal care in a timely manner.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Confers and collaborates fluidly with physicians, nursing, and ancillary services to coordinate total patient care and actively participates in interdisciplinary patient care conferences.
  • Patient & Family Education: Identifies specific patient learning needs and instructs patients, families, and caretakers on appropriate medical nutritional therapy following departmental policy.
  • Medical Documentation: Records and documents all pertinent clinical data, therapeutic recommendations, and modified care plans in the patient medical record in a timely, highly confidential manner.
  • Quality & Satisfaction Tracking: Consistently conducts meal rounds on assigned floors to directly assess patient satisfaction, communicates dietary needs to the diet office, and supports departmental process improvement initiatives.
  • Community Outreach: Helps plan, develop, and execute strategic nutrition projects for the local community through services such as health fairs, educational classes, and speaking engagements.
  • Operational Compliance: Coordinates daily patient care assignments effectively, ensures batch charge entries coincide with daily work logs, and strictly complies with all outside regulatory requirements.
  • Staff Mentorship: Conducts targeted in-service training sessions and educational consultations for hospital personnel and fellow departments when necessary to maintain staff clinical competencies.
