Job Scope


TheInternal Service Specialistposition fulfills all training needs and demands as required by internal service, customers, and other personnel. Provide service/support to customers, internal service engineers and other DiaSorin personnel with regards to instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, work order review and training. Develop all internal service engineers to ensure a sustainable business model. Lead by example, on and off site


Key Duties and Responsibilities



  • Conduct all instrumentation processes that are designed to develop a highly skilled workforce and customer base capable of delivering results consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Participate in internal training programs.
  • Participate in formal and informal training required to increase skills to meet work expectations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training process and programs.
  • Promote and encourage the use of tools available including service software, optic module calibration, various forms of electrical testing, and others as they become available to increase service effectiveness
  • Provide technical workmanship related to instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs to facilitate good customer relations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new instrument systems by performing minimum requirement assessments.
  • Provide technical support infrastructure for new systems.
  • Compliant in all aspects of the job
  • Ensure all procedures are followed correctly
  • Able to review work done by other members of the team in work order review
  • Participate teamwork competencies and foster an environment that results in a risk-taking, energetic, and accountable workforce that work together to fulfill corporate objectives.
  • Promote open channels of communication throughout the organization through continual thoughtful and open communications.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and act as a resource for the group.
  • Actively facilitate in sharing of information across the organization in a way that results in good coordination of actions and decisions, and continuous improvement of results and performance.

  • Take responsibility for customer satisfaction through proper use of soft/people skills and engage the support of other personnel as required.
  • Follow established Diasorin's compliance procedures designed to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met; activities may include audits, documentation, and the understanding of the requirements of agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NRC, and FDA.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Be coachable in technical aspects and techniques for the instrumentation being serviced.
  • Participate in service call escalation process to avoid instrument replacements.
  • Support field molecular integration activities as needed
  • Give recommendations to current part Reorder Points based on instrument forecast and/or an increased frequency of certain component failures
  • Participate in regular technical meetings with internal service engineers based on feedback from the field, new technical notes, and new experiences as necessary.
  • Provide feedback to internal service team on changes needed to technical procedures or part/system improvement ideas


Education, Experience, and Qualifications



  • H.S. Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree degree in a science or technology field or 2 year degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, AA Electronics, Engineering Technician or equivalent preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Conduct training sessions that pertain to the proper maintenance and repair of DiaSorin instrumentation
  • Present and review technical information in formal settings, including demonstrations at Conferences, Exhibits, and customer sites
  • Contribute to service process improvement
  • Do preventative maintenance and troubleshooting with reference to manufacturer's manual
  • Demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to handle multiple activities in a professional manner
  • Knowledge and skill in installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibration, and maintaining medical diagnostic or clinical laboratory instrumentation
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics, medical terminology, chemistry, and physics
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic immunology and immunoassay technology
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)
  • Understanding of good laboratory practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Office applications


Working Conditions Physical Demands, Travel, etc.



  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand in a laboratory or training environment for up to 4 hours at a time
  • Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment including face masks, safety goggles, lab coats, gloves, and steel-toe boots when necessary
  • Spend periods of time doing repetitive motion while using a computer.
  • 10% of travel may be required

The hourly range for this position is $24.18 - $37.74 /Hourly. The hourly range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. Beyond base salary, Diasorin offers a competitive rewards package focused on your overall well-being.
