The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) is a member of the GMR Physician Executive Team and supports GMR Clinical Practices, GMR Life initiatives, quality improvement, research, physician medical director oversight, and business innovation. The ACMO helps advance clinical culture, best practices, and organizational expectations across the enterprise.

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, this physician leader will serve as one of two ACMOs and support regional and specialty leadership teams in clinical education, training, performance monitoring, evidence-informed clinical practice, and disaster/OEM support. The position is full-time in GMR but, with approval, physicians may work up to 32 hours clinically in an outside healthcare system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • In partnership with the current ACMO and regional physician medical directors, provide leadership, support, and subject matter expertise to clinical practitioners delivering emergency and non-emergency patient care across air and ground settings.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of enterprise-wide and targeted practice guidelines, educational programs, credentialing standards, and quality improvement initiatives relevant to specialty out-of-hospital care.
  • Support leadership in maintaining a national information management and delivery system, including performance reporting that produces relevant internal and external insights to drive continuous operational improvement.
  • In accordance with HIPAA and compliance requirements, and in partnership with operational leadership, establish mechanisms to track, measure, and monitor clinical care reporting and service recovery.
  • Support the GMR Clinical Quality Management Plan to identify and revise key performance metrics to be adopted internally and in conjunction with external partners.
  • Assess and, when appropriate, support implementation of accreditation standards, including site reviews to evaluate operational needs and financial implications. Recommend accreditation programs that position GMR for nationally recognized excellence awards.
  • Support patient safety initiatives and an enterprise-wide incident management program that will include significant event investigation; incident reporting, tracking, trending; and comply with applicable HIPAA regulatory requirements.
  • Represent GMR and speak on behalf of the company's pertinent clinical and operational performance and related processes to governmental entities, commercial customers, educational venues, and other appropriate organizations as required.
  • Participate in the GMR Clinical and Operational Performance Assessment initiative and provide guidance for program growth and change.
  • As part of the GMR Medicine team, participate in the Office of Emergency Management disaster preparedness and response initiatives.
  • Support regional and national clinical and educational initiatives through GMR Learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Licensed physician board certified in an appropriate specialty; EMS board certification preferred. Strong EMS background required, with experience in benchmarking, outcomes measurement, quality tool development, and, preferably, unplanned care development and financial modeling.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an EMS system as a Medical Director.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute strategic objectives in an efficient manner delivering positive results for the organization.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Have a working knowledge of accreditation standards and processes.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate clinical and operational performance expectations clearly.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work with limited supervision.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy and be detail oriented.
  • Must exercise a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
