Gas Operator Qualification (OQ) Specialist
Job Summary
The Operator Qualification (OQ) Specialist ensures compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart N (Operator Qualification Rule) by evaluating and verifying the knowledge, skills, and abilities of personnel performing covered tasks. This role is responsible for administering written, computer-based, and performance-based assessments to promote technical competency, operational excellence, and the highest standards of public and employee safety. The OQ Specialist conducts qualification evaluations across multiple technical disciplines including, but not limited to, gas operations and maintenance, construction, locating, customer service, and plastic pipe joining. This position partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders-including Field Operations, System Operations, Construction Services, Technical Training, Operational Excellence, Compliance, and Gas Standards-to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company procedures. This role directly supports Safety Management System (SMS) objectives by strengthening workforce capability, improving compliance, and enhancing system reliability. The OQ Specialist also conducts audit assessments of third-party evaluators and administers qualification exams for company employees and contractors. Essential Functions
