Job Details:

The School of Nursing seeks to fill a part-time (30 hours per week) temporary, fixed-term position of HR Coordinator that will provide support for the School of Nursing. Candidates who are eager to identify deficiencies in processes and who are drawn to a collaborative work environment are strongly encouraged to apply. This position will serve as a HR Partner for the school and will be responsible for both initiating business processes within the unit as well as reviewing some business processes created by other HR team members. This position will manage assignments for student employees, casual workers and serve as the first line of review/triaging for general HR requests.

Responsibilities

HR Processing

  • Oversee all departmental HR related processes that supports the full employment lifecycle of student employees, casual employees, contingent workers, and affiliated workers who have courtesy appointments. Initiates onboarding, separations, transfers, terminations, reclassifications, additional/sporadic jobs and routes all job changes through Workday.
  • For student employees, monitors eligibility, responds to questions related to tuition/benefits concerning insurance, tuition waiver or exemptions processes. Coordinates the approval of tuition reduction benefits for graduate students in Financial Resources Management Services (FRMS).

Administrative and Other HR Support

  • Review incoming HR questions and respond to requests from faculty, staff, and student employees in a professional and timely manner
  • Track and enter HR transaction data into Excel spreadsheets, Workday, and other internal UT Austin systems
  • Assist with recordkeeping, filing, and document retention. Protect confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information at all times
  • Cross-trains and provide backup assistance for other staff on the HR team.
  • Liaise with central Human Resources, Payroll Services, Workday Operational Support, Academic Personnel Services, and other university offices.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency with all policies, procedures within the department specific to HR related needs. Attends and participates in monthly team meetings and workshops/engagement opportunities as offered by Workday, the Human Resource Services teams, and other meetings and trainings as appropriate. Complies with all federal, state, and university laws and policies.
  • Other tasks as assigned in support of Human Resources functions for the School of Nursing
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field. Two years of experience in a human resources function. Ability to work in a team environment with a high degree of autonomy on multiple projects. Ability to involve team members in solving issues and making decisions. Ability to communicate effectively, embrace change, and maintain a high level of customer service. Ability to manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances while maintaining accuracy, responding to sensitive issues with discretion. Working experience with conflict management, decision making and critical thinking, and relationship management.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of experience. Prior experience in a higher education setting working closely with faculty, staff and students. Competencies required to succeed in this position are: detail-oriented and have excellent organization skills, problem-solving ability, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to adhere to confidentiality in the workplace, resourcefulness, integrity, self-motivation, and willingness to accomplish workload in a timely fashion. Ability to anticipate the needs of the department proactively and collaborate to develop systems to streamline processes. Strong Excel, data tracking, and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Workday, FRMS, *DEFINE and University of Texas employment policies.

Salary Range

$45,000- $56,250 (rate at 30 hours per week)

  • Hybrid work schedule and remote eligible depending on the candidate.
