Position Summary

Senior-level environmental remediation project and program manager. This role will lead remediation project teams for Parker's global environmental liability portfolio to ensure fiscal governance, risk management and program compliance. Leadership responsibilities include project management, technical and strategic leadership, regulatory relationship maintenance and ability to manage external technical staff.

This role oversees large and multiple projects simultaneously. It requires a high level of competency in environmental remediation, regulatory knowledge (RCRA/CERCLA and country / state-specific requirements for site investigation, remediation and closure), project, financial and risk management. The position will work closely and collaboratively with the business and facility leaders, EHS, financial accounting, Risk Management, Real Estate, and Legal functions. This role reports to the Corporate Director of EHS.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Accountable for managing all aspects of significant environmental liabilities and compliance with provisions under Sarbanes Oxley and public disclosure of environmental liabilities.

  • Establishes annual environmental project cost estimates.

  • Determines the need for accrual adjustments and communicates changes to the relevant business leaders including General Managers and Group Staff.

  • Day-to-day cost-effective management of environmental liabilities portfolio.

  • Review, approve and contract with Project Managers and Performing Consultant providers. Evaluate performance and adjust as appropriate.

  • Reviews statement of work and request for proposal for agreed upon phases of investigation or remediation work.

  • Reviews proposals, contracts, purchase orders and invoices, and enters into internal systems.

  • Evaluates environmental risks and liabilities from various business transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, property transfers, cessation of operations and disposal practices.

  • Responsible for monitoring emerging trends and development in regulatory and technical environmental issues.

  • Supports activities required for insurance recovery of expenses related to environmental liabilities.

  • Supports global business units with environmental compliance and performance issues, as it relates to Parker's past, present or future liability.

  • Review and support responses to third-party and CERCLA claims of liability.

  • Provides support to Corporate EHS Director with the development of applicable corporate strategy and planning activities, interface and support of real estate program.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, or related field

  • 10+ years in environmental remediation project management experience

  • Multi-disciplinary environmental compliance project management a plus

  • Professional licensure highly preferred (Professional Engineer - PE or Professional Geologist - PG)

  • Proficient in environmental laws and regulations at the local, state and federal levels and the ability to navigate within the environmental framework

  • Experience working with matrix organizations is a plus
