Purpose of the Role

Worley is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Workface Planner to provide leadership and project management support for construction execution through the application of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Workface Planning principles. This role is responsible for ensuring work is planned and sequenced to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution while maintaining schedule commitments and contractual obligations.

The Senior Workface Planner develops and manages Installation Work Packages (IWPs), removes execution constraints, and coordinates engineering, procurement, quality, and construction activities to maximize craft productivity. The position requires broad technical knowledge, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to provide guidance and direction to project teams and junior planners.

Key Responsibilities Workface Planning and Construction Execution
  • Lead the implementation and execution of Workface Planning processes in accordance with project and corporate Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) standards.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Installation Work Packages (IWPs) to support safe and efficient field execution.
  • Ensure work packages contain all required drawings, specifications, material status, permits, safety requirements, and quality documentation.
  • Sequence work activities to support project milestones and optimize craft productivity.
  • Monitor package readiness and proactively identify and mitigate execution constraints.
  • Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Commissioning teams to ensure work fronts are executable.
Project Management and Coordination
  • Provide direction and project management support to ensure construction activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of customer objectives, project requirements, and company policies.
  • Participate in planning meetings, schedule reviews, and look-ahead planning activities.
  • Evaluate work priorities and adjust package sequencing to accommodate changing project conditions.
  • Support forecasting and reporting of work package status, labor requirements, and construction progress.
  • Participate in resolving complex technical and execution issues affecting construction productivity.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Workface Planners and assigned project personnel.
  • Assign work and provide direction to staff supporting smaller projects or specific areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate effectively with project management, construction leadership, and client representatives.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and recommendations related to workface planning activities.
  • Influence and communicate effectively on complex matters with project stakeholders and management.
Systems, Processes, and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain a strong understanding of project systems, work processes, and construction planning tools.
  • Utilize applicable systems and databases to monitor work package readiness and construction performance.
  • Assist team members with troubleshooting issues related to workface planning processes and tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning effectiveness, reduce constraints, and enhance field productivity.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices across the project.

Qualifications / Skillset Required Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Typically 7+ years of experience in construction, project execution, or workface planning within industrial, energy, LNG, or EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and applying Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of construction execution, engineering deliverables, materials management, and project controls.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and quality requirements.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of construction sequencing and execution methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing execution interfaces.
  • Proficiency with project systems, scheduling tools, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and resolve complex planning and execution challenges.
  • Strong understanding of systems, processes, and tools related to construction planning and field execution.
Decision Making
  • Makes independent decisions and recommendations for large work areas, major project scopes, or multiple smaller assignments.
  • Recommendations are reviewed for soundness but are generally accepted as technically accurate and practical.
  • Decisions may impact project cost, schedule, quality, safety, and organizational performance.
Communication
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with project teams, construction personnel, and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and present reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders on complex technical and execution matters.
Leadership
  • Works with minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment.
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to assigned personnel and project teams.
  • May have direct reports and participate in performance evaluations and development activities.
  • Supports the development and implementation of project objectives and execution strategies.

Typical Experience: 7+ years of relevant industry experience with progressively increasing responsibility in construction planning, workface planning, or project execution.

Preferred Experience: Experience on large EPC, LNG, petrochemical, refinery, or industrial construction projects utilizing Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodologies.
