The purpose of this position is to support the development and execution of the destination's marketing and digital communication strategies by creating, managing, and optimizing engaging content across social media, websites, and other digital platforms. This role promotes the destination brand, increases audience engagement, and supports events and partnerships through strategic content creation, analytics, and brand-consistent messaging.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies by conducting research, benchmarking best practices, crafting messaging, and planning content for diverse audiences, including meeting planners, business and leisure travelers, and residents.
  • Manage digital media activities by creating and distributing electronic communications, maintaining social media platforms, developing infographics and editorial content, supporting social media campaigns, and engaging with visitors and community members online.
  • Design and produce visual content using graphic design software for use across digital platforms and marketing channels.
  • Monitor and analyze social media and website performance by generating monthly analytics reports and using insights to optimize digital marketing strategies.
  • Support destination events and promotional activities through meeting participation, special projects, production of marketing materials, and other assigned duties.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, community partners, and City staff to cross-promote events, initiatives, and campaigns to expand audience reach.
  • Attend events to capture live and archived photo and video content for use in social media campaigns and digital marketing efforts.
  • Utilize content curation and management tools to enhance social sharing, visitor engagement, influencer marketing initiatives, search engine optimization (SEO), and website performance.
  • Ensure consistent representation of the destination brand across all digital platforms by adhering to and enforcing graphic identity standards, including proper use of logos, fonts, colors, and branded materials.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Bachelor's and three (3) years of work experience.
  • Associate's and five (5) years of work experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of work experience.

Special Requirements

  • Safe driving record and a valid Texas Class C Driver's License.

Hours/Work Schedule

  • This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Knowledge of:

  • City rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Marketing, graphic arts, and public relations concepts, techniques, and tools.
  • Variety of social media platforms.
  • Photography and videography techniques and tools.
  • Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Skill in:

  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support staff, vendors, the public, the media, and City employees.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Providing outstanding customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Operating a computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Using DSLR cameras and video equipment.
  • Working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities.
  • Effectively communicating in both oral and written format, with an adherence to AP style.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position is classified a ssedentary and requires the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these functions. Typical physical demands include:

  • Primarily sitting, with occasional walking or standing to access files or office areas
  • Occasional bending, reaching, or stretching to retrieve materials or supplies
  • Lifting or carrying items weighing up to 10-15 pounds, such as files or office supplies
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, filing, copying, and operating office equipment
  • Adequate vision and hearing to review documents and effectively communicate with staff and the public

Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional work outside the office during programs, meetings, or special events. The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
