Position : Tube Laser Operator
Location : Hartford, WI
Schedule : 1 st Shift - 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM, M-F (overtime available Friday)
Compensation : Based off of Experience
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Tube Laser Operator to join our team in Hartford, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC tube laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality metal components. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows standard operating procedures, and contributes to a safe, productive shop environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up and operate CNC tube laser cutting machines according to job specifications and production schedules
  • Load and position raw tube stock (round, square, rectangular, and structural profiles) for cutting
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Program or adjust machine parameters including speed, power, focal point, and feed rates as needed
  • Perform first-article inspection and in-process quality checks using calipers, tape measures, and other measurement tools
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain cut quality and minimize scrap
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including lens cleaning, nozzle replacement, and lubrication
  • Identify and report machine malfunctions, tooling wear, or quality issues to the supervisor promptly
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S and company safety standards
  • Accurately complete production documentation including job travelers, inspection records, and downtime logs
  • Assist in loading/unloading parts and staging materials as needed
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and suggest process enhancements
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Prior experience operating a laser cutting machine (tube, flat sheet, or combination preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
  • Proficient use of measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and squares
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
Preferred:
  • Experience with BLM, Mazak, Trumpf, or similar CNC tube laser equipment
  • Familiarity with CNC programming or G-code basics
  • Experience with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum tube/structural products
  • Knowledge of 5S workplace organization practices
  • Prior experience in a job shop or contract manufacturing environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted; team lift for heavier materials
  • Manual dexterity for handling precision parts and tooling
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal dust, and laser light (PPE provided)
