This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative, quality-focused environment with strong leadership support and long-term growth potential. *What You'll Do* As an Inpatient Medical Coder, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate coding for reimbursement, compliance, and data integrity. *Key Responsibilities:* * Review and analyze inpatient medical records to assign accurate *ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes* * Ensure proper *APR-DRG, MS-DRG, SOI (Severity of Illness), ROM (Risk of Mortality), and POA* assignment * Evaluate documentation and *query physicians* to clarify diagnoses and procedures when needed * Maintain coding accuracy to prevent denials, billing issues, and compliance risks * Meet established productivity and turnaround time standards * Collaborate with clinical staff, CDI specialists, and internal departments * Use EHR systems and coding tools to support efficient workflows * Stay current with regulatory changes and coding best practices (AHIMA, HIPAA) * Assist with coding audits, corrections, and special projects as assigned *What You Bring* *Required Experience & Skills:* * *3+ years of Inpatient coding experience (required)* * Strong knowledge of: * ICD-10-CM / ICD-10-PCS * *APR-DRG and MS-DRG methodologies* * Reimbursement processes and compliance standards * SOI and ROM assignment * Experience in a hospital-based inpatient setting * Ability to confidently *query providers and interpret complex clinical documentation* * High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking skills *Certifications (Required):* * One of the following: * *CCS (preferred)* * RHIT or RHIA *Education:* * High school diploma or equivalent required * Formal ICD-10 training required * Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred *Position Details* * *Schedule:* Full-time (multiple openings) * *Work Environment:* 100% Remote * *Eligible Work Locations:* MD, PA, DC, WV, VA, TN, TX, NC, SC, GA, FL * *Equipment:* Must have home setup *Compensation & Perks* * *Pay Rate:* $30 - $42/hour (based on experience) * *Contract-to-hire opportunity* with long-term stability * *Retention Bonuses:* * $750 after 90 days * $1,250 after 1 year * Growth opportunities within coding and compliance teams *Why This Role?* * Work remotely with a respected healthcare system * Exposure to *advanced DRG models (APR + MS-DRG)* as industry standards evolve * Be part of a team focused on quality, accuracy, and professional development * Strong onboarding, support, and ongoing training *Ideal Candidate* You're a self-motivated, detail-oriented coding professional who thrives in a remote environment and enjoys solving complex documentation challenges.
