Mead & Hunt has a full-time opportunity available for an experienced Senior Designer. The Carolinas bridge team works on a wide range of projects and is known in the region for high quality designs. Projects include long curve steel girder bridges, signature bridges, and a wide range of replacement and new bridge projects for DOT and municipal clients throughout the Carolinas. This role will sit in our Lexington, SC office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft engineering and design documents for bridge and culvert projects using various computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Responsible to the project manager and/or project team for quality system tasks defined in the quality manual.
  • Responsible for schedules and timely completion of specific tasks within assigned projects.
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules, quantities and geometric designs.
  • Develops probable construction cost estimates for specific tasks within assigned projects.
  • A valid license and some travel will be required.

The successful candidate will have all of the following:

  • Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution plus at least eight years of relevant experience desirable, OR if no degree, ten or more years of relevant experience required.

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all of the following:

  • Experience with OpenBridge Modeler, Microstation, AutoCAD, and related CAD software for design projects.
  • Transportation project experience (specifically bridges and culverts).
  • Effectively communicating both verbally and written with clients and colleagues.
  • Collaborating in a team environment with members in different offices.
  • SCDOT and NCDOT project experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all phases of bridge plan production.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
