Job Summary
F3EA is seeking qualified Able Seamen (AB) to support maritime operations aboard operational vessels supporting dynamic mission requirements. This position is responsible for executing deck operations, maintenance, watch-standing duties, and general seamanship tasks while supporting safe and efficient vessel operations.
The Able Seaman serves as a key member of the deck crew and supports vessel readiness through disciplined execution, adherence to safety procedures, and effective teamwork. Personnel in this role are expected to uphold F3EA operational standards while reinforcing a culture of professionalism, accountability, and safety.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform navigational watch-standing and deck operational duties as assigned
- Execute maintenance and operational work throughout the vessel as part of a multipurpose crew
- Support loading, discharge, standby, and general vessel operations
- Conduct cleaning, preservation, and maintenance of deck equipment and spaces
- Safely operate onboard tools, equipment, and vessel systems within assigned responsibilities
- Follow and promote safe work practices, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Participate in emergency response drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness activities
- Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures and assigned Muster List responsibilities
- Support fire prevention, firefighting, man overboard, and abandon ship procedures
- Identify and report hazards, near misses, and non-conformities to vessel leadership
- Support implementation of the vessel Business Management System (BMS) and Safety Management System (SMS)
- Ensure written and verbal tasking is clearly understood and properly executed
- Promote effective teamwork and coordination between vessel departments
- Support client and crew welfare during vessel operations
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of vessel operations and mission requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to support teamwork, accountability, and safe operational execution.
Required Qualifications and Education
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as Able Seaman appropriate to vessel requirements
- Valid STCW endorsements applicable to vessel operations
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Current U.S. Coast Guard medical certificate
- Experience supporting operational vessel deck operations and seamanship activities
- Knowledge of maritime safety procedures and emergency response requirements
- Ability to work rotational schedules in maritime environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
Preferred Qualifications and Education
- RFPNW endorsement for navigational watch-standing duties
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) endorsement
- Experience supporting government maritime operations or defense-related missions
- Prior military or government-contracted maritime experience
- Experience operating in high operational tempo maritime environments
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Operational maritime and shipboard environment
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, vessel motion, and deck operations
- Ability to lift, move, and secure equipment and materials
- Extended periods standing, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding work
- Ability to support rotational or extended underway operations as required
