Job Summary

F3EA is seeking qualified First Engineers to support maritime operations aboard operational vessels supporting dynamic mission requirements. This position is responsible for supporting the safe operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of vessel engineering systems while ensuring compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and operational directives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer with operation, maintenance, and repair of vessel systems and machinery
  • Monitor and record engineering plant data and maintain engine room logs
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance actions as required
  • Ensure engineering work is conducted safely and in accordance with established procedures
  • Support Permit to Work (PTW) and Safe Job Analysis (SJA) processes
  • Report accidents, near misses, equipment deficiencies, and non-conformities
  • Participate in emergency drills, safety meetings, and vessel readiness activities
  • Execute assigned watch-standing duties and engineering operations
  • Support cross-functional coordination between engineering and operational departments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of vessel operations

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • May provide task-level oversight and coordination of junior engineering personnel and engine crew.

Required Qualifications and Education

  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) appropriate for position
  • Valid STCW endorsements and required maritime certifications
  • 3+ years of maritime engineering experience aboard operational vessels
  • Experience operating and maintaining marine propulsion and auxiliary systems
  • Ability to work rotational schedules in maritime environments
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance

Preferred Qualifications and Education

  • Experience supporting government maritime operations
  • Familiarity with Dynamic Positioning (DP) vessel operations
  • Prior military or government-contracted maritime experience

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Operational maritime and shipboard environment
  • Exposure to varying weather, vessel motion, and machinery spaces
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in physically demanding environments
