Summary/Description:

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with strong leadership and communication skills, adept at solving complex Engineering challenges to lead and support the Electrical Engineering team for projects in the US MMM (Mining, Minerals and Metals) business. The ideal candidate will manage small to large projects, ensuring quality, cost and schedule adherence. You will be responsible for the Electrical Engineering team's output, technical integrity and compliance with safety standards. Drive engineering excellence and adherence to industry codes.

This is a full-time position based in our Mesa, Arizona office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary Electrical Engineering teams for large-scale mining, minerals and metals projects, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery across all project phases (study, detailed engineering, construction and commissioning).

  • Act as the Electrical Engineering discipline lead and technical authority, providing overall design leadership and overseeing the work of engineers, designers and drafters, including multi-office and workshare teams.

  • Deliver Electrical engineering design, calculations, specifications, drawings and key deliverables in compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, mining standards and customer specifications.

  • Interpret client requirements and coordinate effectively with internal disciplines, clients, vendors and stakeholders to ensure alignment of scope, design and execution strategies.

  • Lead scope definition, engineering planning, resource estimation and progress control for Electrical Engineering activities, ensuring alignment with WBS, schedule and cost objectives.

  • Support and lead proposal development activities, including RFP responses, technical write-ups, value propositions and discipline strategy for mining projects.

  • Ensure technical integrity and quality of all Electrical deliverables, including participation in reviews, verification, checking and final approval processes, including sealing and stamping where required.

  • Provide leadership in design coordination, interdisciplinary integration and resolution of technical interfaces, ensuring efficient and practical engineering solutions.

  • Apply strong knowledge of mining-specific Electrical systems, including power distribution, load calculations, major equipment design and infrastructure requirements.

  • Support procurement activities through preparation of specifications, datasheets, material requisitions and technical bid evaluations.

  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning and field activities, including site walkdowns, issue resolution and design validation.

  • Ensure adherence to project scope, change management processes and regulatory, organizational and client-specific standards.

  • Identify, evaluate and resolve technical challenges, remaining current with industry advancements, best practices and emerging technologies in Electrical Engineering.

  • Lead and mentor junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical development, knowledge sharing and high-performance team culture.

  • Plan and manage Electrical Engineering resources, ensuring efficient utilization and alignment with project demands.

  • Monitor and control discipline performance, ensuring delivery against agreed schedules, budgets and quality standards.

  • Participate in project and discipline meetings, provide progress reporting and contribute to overall project planning and execution.

  • Utilize industry-standard tools such as ETAP, DIALux and 3D modeling platforms (Aveva E3D, Smart 3D), along with MS Office applications.

  • Support construction management activities and provide advisory services to clients to ensure successful project execution.

  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, technical leadership and delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering interfaces and broader project requirements in mining environments.

  • Lead Electrical discipline contributions to strategic pursuits and business development initiatives, including technical presentations and client engagement.

  • Perform and oversee detailed Electrical Engineering activities, including load lists, load flow studies, short circuit studies, motor starting studies, protection coordination and arc flash analysis using ETAP or equivalent tools.

  • Develop single line diagrams (SLDs), power distribution layouts, cable routing layouts, grounding and lightning protection systems and area classification drawings.

  • Prepare and review equipment sizing calculations (transformers, switchgear, cables, MCCs, drives, generators, UPS systems).

  • Lead preparation of datasheets, specifications, material requisitions (MRs), technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and vendor document reviews.

  • Review and verify detailed engineering deliverables, drawings, calculations and documents, including sealing and stamping for IFC issuance where required.

  • Participate in 3D model reviews (Aveva E3D / Smart 3D) for cable trays, equipment layouts and electrical room integration.

  • Conduct and lead design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP support, constructability reviews and value engineering exercises.

  • Identify, define and manage Electrical long lead equipment early in the project lifecycle, including major power transformers, HV/MV switchgear, E-houses, grinding mill drives, substations and large VFD systems.

  • Develop procurement strategies and technical requirements for long lead items aligned with project schedule milestones and critical path.

  • Lead technical evaluation, vendor engagement and expediting support to ensure timely delivery of long lead equipment.

  • Provide early design input and vendor integration support for long lead items to minimize rework and interface risks.

  • Track manufacturing, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and shipment status of critical Electrical packages.

  • Ensure technical integrity and quality of all Electrical deliverables, including participation in reviews, verification, checking and final approval processes.

  • Provide leadership in design coordination, interdisciplinary integration and resolution of technical interfaces, ensuring efficient and practical engineering solutions.

  • Apply strong knowledge of mining-specific Electrical systems, including power distribution, load calculations and infrastructure requirements for large-scale operations.

  • Utilize Electrical engineering tools such as ETAP, DIALux and demonstrate working knowledge of Aveva E3D and Smart 3D environments.

  • Competently use MS Office Suite and project delivery tools for reporting and coordination.

  • Lead Electrical discipline contributions to strategic pursuits and proposal development.

  • Develop technical write-ups, value propositions and discipline strategies aligned with client objectives.

  • Deliver client presentations on Electrical systems, optimization strategies and value improvement opportunities.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years Lead or Principal Electrical Engineer experience.

  • 8+ years Mining, Minerals & Metals projects experience.

  • Electrical Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona (or able to obtain in a short-term) State.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering would be considered an asset.

  • 3 to 5 years of EPC/EPCM Mining project experience.

  • Mining regulatory/MSHA certification and experience.

  • Electrical Engineering Licensed Professional Engineer in Arizona (or able to obtain in a short-term).
