CPI Card Group is a light manufacturing company producing contact and contactless payment cards for our customers. We are currently looking for a hard working production employee to join our Littleton, CO facility. The Quality Technician at CPI are responsible for the auditing, inspection and testing functions through-out the value stream Working directly on the production floor, these roles partner closely with machine operators and supervisors to inspect, measure, record, and analyze product quality throughout the manufacturing process. Technicians contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction through the delivery of compliant, high-quality products. Responsibilities
- Adhere to all requirements of the CPI Safety Program.
- Adhere to all CPI security requirements including counting and documenting the disposition of all cards to and from the operation.
- Adhere to all requirements of the CPI Quality Management System.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
- Perform in-process and final inspections on products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Communicate inspection results clearly to machine operators and supervisors.
- Support improvement initiatives (cost savings, efficiency, scrap reduction, quality, down time)
- Contribute to continuous improvement ideas
- Coordinate the calibration of lab equipment
- Manage/coordinate internal audits of the Quality Management System
- Compile audit findings and coordinate corrective action
- Coordinate the control of documents (work instructions, forms, procedures) and ensure they are reviewed on a yearly basis
- Other duties assigned by management
- Follow all safety policies and procedures including enforcing required PPE, following incident reporting protocol, and completing all required safety training.
- Plans quality operations including establishing daily priorities, adapting work schedules
- Partner with other departments to establish quality assurance needs and measures
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions (written and verbal).
- Ability to write simple reports.
- Ability to effectively present in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Implements methods for process control and improvements and maintains quality requirements, standards, policies and procedures for manufacturing of existing and new products with minimal waste
- Inspects work and performs physical testing of work in process and finished product for a variety of qualities such as color, dimension and performance using testing equipment and brings issues and variations to the attention of Quality Manager, Finishing Manager and/or Plant Manager
- Interprets customer requirements and confers with management or technical staff to ascertain quality and reliability standards
- Performs demonstrated competency verification on training activities.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures, and evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing quality standards.
- Complete KPIs reporting and analysis. Uses the data to determine areas of opportunity.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability and with minimal waste.
- Assist with the development of documentation for the purpose of monitoring the company's cost of quality.
- Composes and updates forms, training documents, work instructions, test methods, and SOPs.
- Coordinate investigations for customer complaints
- Create RCA (Root Cause Analysis) responses to customer complaints
Ancillary Responsibilities:
- Participate in team meetings, kaizen events, or quality system improvement projects.
- Support document control efforts (updating inspection records, quality logs).
- Assist engineering or leadership teams in validation, trials, or test runs.
- Availability to perform other tasks as required.
- High level of autonomy in decision-making regarding product quality, process adjustments, and batch status. Authority to stop production when critical issues arise.
Qualifications
- Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Computer literacy for recording data and generating reports.
- Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to support multiple shifts.
- American Society for Quality, Certified Quality Auditor Certified is desired but not required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in QC. Advanced training in quality systems or Six Sigma a plus.

- The candidate must have basic skills required to operation technical machinery. They must be able to use a caliper and other hand tools.
- The candidate must be able to interface with a PC by in putting and out putting data and using basic Microsoft Office Suite products. Keyboard input skills are necessary.
Physical Demand:
- Manufacturing environment is noisy and may require ear protection.
- Work involves dealing with fine detail and constant human interaction, which can be tiring both mentally and physically.
- Work is conducted in shifts and may require long hours, including weekends and overtime, to meet deadlines.
- Prolonged standing and walking on the production floor (75%-100% of shift).
- Regular lifting (up to 25 lbs.), bending, and reaching.
- Frequent visual inspections require close attention to detail.
- Use of hands and fingers for operating inspection instruments and entering data.
- Position may require up to 10% travel.
