About This Role

The Department of Statistics is seeking qualified applicants for a 9-month tenured position at the full professor level with a preferred but flexible start in August 2026. Duties include interdisciplinary statistical and collaborative research with faculty and students across campus, advising PhD and MS students in statistics, departmental/university service, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses

The teaching load will be typically 2 courses per semester. Course release may be negotiated. Depending on interests, applicants may obtain affiliation and/or a partial appointment with the Statistical Consulting Laboratory or the Institute for Digital Agriculture and Advanced Analytics.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • A PhD in Statistics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience performing statistical research and/or collaboration.
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior experience as the solo instructor for college-level statistics course in one or more modalities (in-person, online, hybrid)
  • Ability to teach a broad range of statistics courses and experience with course and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated record of advising Master and/or PhD level students.
  • An established record of peer-review publication in applied and/or theoretical statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding, (e.g. NSF, NIH, USDA, or similar funded projects).
  • A nationally recognized reputation for research, teaching, and service.


The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Record of professional service, including but not limited to journal editor, or professional associations leaderships roles.
  • Experience with student recruitment.
