This position is responsible for leading and growing sales performance in the Portland Metro market. This role drives revenue, margin, and market share by developing sales strategies, managing key customers relationships, and coaching sales representatives to achieve volume and profit goals. The Aggregate sales manager works closely with operations and leadership teams to align sales execution with production capacities and Knife Rivers business objectives.
Responsibilities include but at not limited to the following:
- Build relationships with new customers and maintain good relationships with existing customers. Manage relationships with general contractors, developers, municipalities and public agencies.
- Develop and execute sales strategies for aggregates across residential, commercial, and public works markets to maximize revenue, margin, and market growth for aggregate products.
- Demonstrate product knowledge through value added sales, trade shows, association meetings and events, answering customer questions, and product quality resolution
- Abilities to analyze market demands and strategically align outside sales team accordingly. Track local market conditions, fuel costs, construction activity.
- Ability to forecast and set annual revenue goals that align with the production team. Track backlog and provide executive team with insights on demand trends and risks.
- Lead, coach, and develop sales representatives to ensure consistent processes and CRM usage.
- Expand markets and customer base, identify growth opportunities within the Portland Metro market.
- Participate in weekly meetings to discuss budget, operational concerns, market demands, and upcoming bids/projects.
- Collaborate closely with plant supervisors, dispatch, scales team and managers.
- Maintain awareness of company Quality Control goals and objectives, company sales policies and procedures, changes in the marketplace, pricing, policies, quality, services and credit terms
- Report customer concerns/ complaints to sales, operations, quality control and accounting staff to resolve customer issues
- Assist with employee accident/injury reporting/process; escort employees to doctor or for drug testing as needed
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations
- Trouble shoot and problem solve situations/ problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair etc.)
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations
- Other duties assigned as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ Years of aggregates sales experience.
- Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills with the ability to grow accounts, manage large customers, and close complex deals.
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a sales team.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, forecasts and market trends.
