Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a midlevel associate to join its Bankruptcy & Restructuring practice. This associate will work closely with partners supporting a diverse range of bankruptcy, restructuring, and related litigation matters for both institutional and emerging company clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated associate to take on meaningful responsibility, work directly with experienced partners, and gain significant exposure to sophisticated restructuring matters.

Responsibilities

The associate will play an integral role in a wide range of bankruptcy and restructuring matters, including:

  • Representing creditors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in Chapter 11 and other bankruptcy proceedings
  • Assisting with bankruptcy litigation, contested matters, and adversary proceedings
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
  • Conducting legal research and preparing strategic analyses on bankruptcy and restructuring issues
  • Supporting discovery efforts, including document review and preparation for depositions
  • Participating in client strategy discussions and case management
  • Collaborating with attorneys across the firm on matters involving commercial litigation, finance, and corporate restructuring
  • Managing portions of cases and coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and courts as experience grows

The associate will work on matters for a variety of clients, including large institutional clients and growthstage companies across industries such as financial services, technology, and consumer products.

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of experience in bankruptcy, restructuring, or related commercial litigation
  • Experience working on Chapter 11 matters and bankruptcy court proceedings
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Experience drafting complex motions, briefs, and other court filings
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligibility for admission)

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $225,000 to $310,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidate's education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus and health insurance with an optional HSA, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 10 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program. For full-time employees, the initial sick leave benefit is 80 hours of sick leave per year. Attorneys generally take approximately three weeks of vacation from work each year, and it may vary depending on the needs of the clients and the firm. Additional voluntary benefits programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long-term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
