What to Expect
As a Data Engineer in the global EHS&S data team, you'll build and scale solutions to directly support Tesla's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) goals. This includes end-to-end ownership of the data pipelines that feed the most-viewed dashboard in Tesla, creating the data models and architecture for internal LLMs that support EHS&S specialists with classifying injury events and generating actions to prevent recurrences, and collaborating cross-functionally to power internal and external reporting (e.g., the Tesla Impact Report). A successful candidate is a hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex problems, leading end-to-end projects with competing priorities, and is a team player with strong communication skills.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with stakeholders to frame and solve business challenges, identify key opportunities, and take ideas from design toproduction
- Ensure safe, secure, compliant, documented, and trusted data by implementing high standards
- Develop, manage, and optimize data pipelines, warehousing, orchestration, and overall end-to-end infrastructure
- Create and refine dimensional data models that enable powerful reporting and analytics
- Explore new tools, frameworks, and technologies to keep our data platform cutting-edge
- Review code, mentor teammates, and help raise the bar on engineering/AI best practices across the team
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of professional experiencein data engineering, data analytics, data modelling, and data management
- Bachelor's Degree in ComputerScience, Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent experience
- Open-minded, collaborative, and team-oriented attitude with the ability tothink outside the box
- Ability to effectively communicate concepts and strategies to technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills to work independently and focused
- Knowledgeable and comfortable in Git, Python, SQL and dbt, APIs, Data Orchestration (i.e., Airflow), Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Data Quality (e.g.,soda.io), and Modern Data Warehousing; experience with Power BI is a plus
- Eagerness to learn about novel ways to make impact in the environmental, health, safety, and security domain; existing knowledge is a plus

Expected Compensation
$100,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
