Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity for a Mission Delta 2 (MD 2) Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) supporting the U.S. Space Force's MD 2 Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Mission. This is a full-time position at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO that allows 1-2 days per week of telework at the discretion of the Government.

As AFSO you will be critical in providing effective and efficient security operations for the overall MD 2 Headquarters, its subordinate squadrons, and 62 Cyber Defense Squadron (62 CYS). The AFSO serves as MD 2's primary Special Access Program (SAP) Security Specialist. MD 2 SAP Security Specialist serves a critical role in administering and managing comprehensive security programs across information, personnel, physical, and industrial security disciplines. This position supports United States Space Force, United States Air Force, Department of Defense, and national-level SAPs, ensuring the protection and integrity of classified and sensitive information critical to national security space operations. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with government agencies/sponsors, program staff, and other company administrative personnel. Experience providing oversight and guidance of NISP operations for multiple clients at a company site is desired.

MD 2 executes day to day SDA operations for ground-based SDA sensors and command and control (C2) systems, and space-based Environmental Monitoring (EM).

Odyssey Systems provides support to the Government in five areas: Product Support, Sustainment Engineering & Sustainment Management, Technical Order Management, Technical User Interface, and System Design, Engineering, and Integration. These tasks are executed laterally with Combat Forces Command, Space Systems Command, development contractors, and SDA stakeholders.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Manage the SAP security program for MD 2 and 62 CYS, integrating multiple security disciplines to provide standardized security support services. Serve as the principal advisor on all SAP security matters, providing technical expertise and guidance
  • Administer and implement the SAP Security Education and Training Awareness (SETA) program. Develop training materials and direct activities to increase security awareness and ensure compliance with training requirements
  • Conduct information protection risk assessments, develop risk mitigation strategies, and provide expert advice on the protection of classified and sensitive information
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve classified security issues while providing leadership and guidance to employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors on actions(s) to be taken to ensure compliance with the classified security programs
  • Develop and implement SAP security policies, standard operating procedures, and directives across MD 2 and subordinate activities. Ensure compliance with Department of Defense, United States Air Force, United States Space Force, and Space Operations Command guidelines.
  • Administer and coordinate all aspects of security activities in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal security regulations, 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule, directives, and manuals for safeguarding National Security Information
  • Establish and liaison with government agencies, external customers, contractors, employees, and managers. Coordinate with government agencies to obtain rulings, interpretations, and compliance with regulations
  • Plan, develop, and manage specialized security programs and procedures for both classified and CUI, documents, and equipment
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing Standard Practices and Procedures security plans
  • Assist in tracking, generating, and flowing down all prime and subcontract DD Forms 254 Contract Security Classification Specification documents for prime and subcontracts
  • Knowledge of receipt, transmission, inventory, reproduction, disposition, and management of classified material
  • Assist in investigating and reviewing all security violations, preparing reports, and recommending specific preventive and corrective action to be taken
  • Assist with Self-Inspections and preparations for DCSA Security Assessments
  • Implement visitor control procedures ensuring compliance with the 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule
  • Assist with the operations and maintenance of the Access Control and Video Management
  • Utilize the Access Control System to generate badges for employees, contractors and visitors
  • Will be the security spokesperson to brief/debrief personnel
  • Initiate/take fingerprints for initial and upgraded security clearances
  • Will provide leadership, direction, and training to less experienced staff
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Occasional travel at the request of the government
  • Other duties as requested/required by the government and within the scope of the S3 contract


Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance

Education: B.A. or B.S. and 7 years of related experience or 10 years of related experience. DoD experience is a plus

  • Experience using DISS, SWFT, NISS, E-Qip
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A professional communicator focused on results
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Experience with SAP and SCI administration

Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance, agreeable to polygraph

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Strong collaboration skills that foster security cohesiveness and support in a dispersed employee base
  • Capable of independently handling a large, complex workload, effectively coordinating multiple resources, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment having competing priorities

Additional Information

Location: Work is performed at MD 2 HQs, Bldg. 845, Peterson SFB, Schriever SFB, and contractor locations in Colorado Springs, CO

Travel: Up to 10% travel is required to CONUS and OCONUS locations

Telework: This position has the potential for 1-2 days per week of telework at the discretion of the Government
