The LATIS Program Manager ensures the effective operation of CLA internal grant programs and key business functions for the LATIS Strategic Innovation Office (SIO). Specifically, the program manager is responsible for CLA's Infrastructure for Learning (IFL) technology grant program; overseeing the college Software, Hardware and Equipment budgets; and managing CLA's Computer Replacement Programs. Additionally they provide hosting support for the CLA Administrative Leaders Program (ALP) and other events hosted by the Strategic Innovation Office. The position reports to LATIS's Associate Director of Leadership and Organizational Development and works in partnership with the Chief Strategic Innovation Officer (CSIO) and the LATIS Senior Leadership Team.

A successful person in this role is a self-motivated and strategic thinker with ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing work direction and priorities. They are able to collaborate effectively with administrative staff across all CLA departments and with internal partners in LATIS. They have the ability to exercise independent judgment while working effectively with others in a team. A successful member of the team will have a habit of anticipating needs and identifying problems then providing solutions.

This is a hybrid position located in Anderson Hall on the Twin Cities West Bank campus, working on campus at least three days per week (generally Tuesday - Thursday) and other days as needed for in person work activities.

Major Job Functions:
College Innovation Funding Program Manager (40%)

  • Manage CLA college-level innovation Grant Programs. Develop and oversee internal marketing, administrative, and operational arrangements, including scheduling, coordinating committee participants, and budget. Control budget allocations and timeline for grant recipients.
  • Gather, compare, and analyze data to make recommendations for process improvements and future program offerings in the program.
  • Summarize and distribute reports to participants and college management; estimate costs, work efforts, schedules, and set deadlines. Make informed decisions that are financially responsible and justifiable in accordance with the grant program's policies.
  • Collaborate with unit leaders and teams for each program.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all project related meetings.
  • Manage communication plans for program announcements, important dates and deadlines, notification letters, and follow up communications to stakeholders.
  • Document decisions, coordinate award letters to recipients, approve purchases and reimbursements.
  • Track decisions and purchases year-to-year by department. Prepare reports and provide relevant data to make informed decisions.

College Technology Infrastructure Funding Program Manager (40%)

  • Oversee the management of the CLA technology infrastructure budgets: College Software licenses and college server/hardware, CLA Computer Replacement Programs (CRP and CRP-Flex) including planning, administrative processes, budgeting, coordination with University partners, and communication.
  • Lead the development of new CRP sub-programs for the effective and sustainable distribution of computers to all employees.
  • Manage purchasing process with the Bookstores, OIT, and CLA units to ensure units are informed of updates or changes to computer purchasing processes.
  • Create and maintain training guides and instructions for procuring technology equipment and software.
  • Advocate for the needs of CLA faculty, staff, and students in U-wide technology purchasing governance processes.
  • Monitor purchases and audit chartstrings to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and responsible spending.

Program Support for the Strategic Innovation Office (20%)

  • Work with the Chief Strategic Innovation Officer (CSIO) and LATIS Leadership Team to undertake and implement specific projects and programs.
  • Provide administrative support to the Associate Director of Leadership and Organizational Development for the CLA Administrative Leaders Program and other programming needs.
  • Manage projects of various size and scope for the unit with minimal direction.
  • Recommend ways to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of business operations to best align with overall unit goals.
  • Assist in establishing strategies to move the unit forward and implement immediate and creative action plans; identify and evaluate problem situations, generate potential solutions, and evaluate all the possibilities to arrive at a strong corrective course of action.
  • Monitor, track and report on all major projects and initiatives.
  • Advise and collaborate with staff and make recommendations to plan, program, implement, and assess the units' daily activities and projects.
  • Serve as the lead person in managing department-wide needs for facilities-related services, assist department staff with placing requests to FM.
  • Develop and implement a plan to ensure all LATIS spaces have effective furniture, equipment, and supplies to maximize unit productivity and minimize expenses. Manage technology inventory in meeting rooms and spaces.
  • Recommend ways to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of department business operations to best align with overall department goals.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
  • Relevant experience in at least two of the following: project/program management, organizational management, process improvement and grants.
  • Demonstrated success leading a wide variety of projects from small to mid-size.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Liberal Arts degree or demonstrated interest in the Liberal Arts.
  • Art of Hosting or other participatory leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of University of Minnesota administrative policies regarding financial operations (FinOps), Office of Information Technology (OIT) policies as well as UMN hospitality and purchasing processes and policies.
  • Self-motivated and strategic thinker with ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing work direction or priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational/detail-oriented, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with competing priority and ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Experience working with facilities management projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $65,000 - $78,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
