Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Manager, Employee Accessibility Services and Resources (ASR) serves under the direction of the Executive Director, Accessibility Services and Resources. Manages System functions for the delivery of services related to the provision of accommodations for employees in order to maintain compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other state and federal regulations related to the provision of reasonable accommodations. Collaborates with System-wide employees to identify needs and develop and implement processes in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and LSCS Policies and Procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manages a system-wide database platform for case management of the employee accommodation process, including providing necessary reports to ensure LSC policies and procedures are met. This includes the assessment of the case management tool's effectiveness and collaboration with colleagues as needed to improve the platform and complete upgrades
  2. Implements the interactive process for employees who request reasonable (permanent or temporary) accommodations. This includes working individually with the employee and their supervisor, explaining the process, reviewing and analyzing documentation, interpreting it, and proposing reasonable accommodations based on the employee's job description and functional limitations
  3. Monitors, collects, and reports aspects of data tracking and assessment related to operations, including caseload, data trends, and user satisfaction. Develops reports for the analysis and interpretation of data relevant to programming and services
  4. Provides professional development to employees and supervisors as needed regarding the implementation of approved reasonable accommodations
  5. Conducts reviews for the quality assurance of the employee accommodation processes and records. Develop reports for submission to the Executive Director and Sr. Associate Vice Chancellor
  6. Responds to general inquiries regarding the employee interactive process for requesting accommodations, including the determination of documentation required under the ADA and other state and federal regulations
  7. Maintain knowledge of current accessible development practices and trends and stay updated on accessibility solutions; Provide guidance in digital accessibility tools and training to employees
  8. Collaborates with LSC colleagues to plan for the delivery of employee accommodations as needed for system-wide events and meetings
  9. Provide consultation to faculty, staff members, and administrators regarding accessibility, technology, and accommodations
  10. Consults with Student ASR on assistive technology software, hardware, and provision of assistive technology-related services, including providing training to employees on the utilization of technology
  11. Collaborate with other System partners in reviewing and evaluating digital assets for WCAG accessibility standards
  12. Develop and implement business processes and forms for area operations
  13. Maintain and update operational marketing/awareness materials and platforms to ensure alignment with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and branding standards
  14. May assist with the scheduling of interpreting and transcribing services as needed
  15. May hire, train, and supervise support staff
  16. Performs administrative and support duties within the Office of Governance, Accountability, and Compliance (OGAC) as needed. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  17. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient knowledge of computer use in the workplace is required, including typing, maintaining an electronic work calendar in the specified program(s), utilizing internet search engines, as well as a variety of programs, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Ability to take initiative and understand policies and procedures
  • Proficient knowledge in the utilization of assistive technology equipment and software for the implementation of reasonable accommodations.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility and WCAG standards
  • Knowledge of federal and state disability-related regulations and compliance

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in accommodations or disability-related services
  • Reliable mode of transportation to travel to campus locations within the LSC Service Area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience addressing the accommodation needs of employees in HR or a similar setting
  • Experience providing effective communication and support to individuals from a range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, as well as those with varying disabilities (e.g., hearing or vision impairments, mobility limitations, and autism spectrum disorders)
  • Assistive Technology/Digital Accessibility Certification
  • Project Management Certification
  • Professional license or certification in human resources (examples: SHRM, PHR, SPHR, CHRP, PSHRA, CHRM, ACHRO)
Salary

Hiring salary range is $67,746-$77,908

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
