Position Summary
The Division of Cardiology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Interventional Cardiologist with dedicated expertise in Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention to join our faculty. This individual will assume a leadership role in the continued development and growth of UIC's CTO program, building on a strong clinical foundation already established within our catheterization laboratory. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care, contribute to fellow and resident education, and engage in scholarly activity consistent with an academic faculty appointment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of interventional cardiology procedures with a primary focus on CTO PCI using contemporary antegrade and retrograde techniques
  • Lead and grow UIC's CTO program, including case selection, procedural planning, outcomes tracking, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with cardiac surgery, imaging, and heart failure teams to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary cardiovascular care
  • Supervise and train cardiology fellows in advanced coronary intervention
  • Develop and maintain referral relationships with regional and community cardiologists
  • Participate in clinical research, with opportunities to contribute to CTO-focused investigations and national registries
  • Fulfill academic responsibilities including teaching, grand rounds participation, and scholarly publication


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology
    • Completion of an accredited interventional cardiology fellowship
    • Demonstrated proficiency in CTO PCI, with formal CTO training or significant independent CTO case experience strongly preferred
    • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois
    • Strong commitment to academic medicine, education, and research
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
