Overview

The Manager, Medical Science Liaisons (MSL) leads and develops a field-based Oncology Germline MSL team supporting Myriad's oncology portfolio with a focus on hereditary cancer testing. This role provides strategic and operational leadership within Medical Affairs to ensure effective execution of scientific priorities and alignment with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate brings deep clinical and scientific expertise in oncology genetics, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to translate strategy into impactful field execution.

Key Responsibilities

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Oncology Germline MSLs, including performance management, hiring, onboarding, and scientific training.

Medical Affairs Strategy

  • Execute Medical Affairs Oncology Germline strategy through effective field leadership and alignment with Medical Affairs leadership.
  • Contribute to SOP development and performance metrics to drive consistency and impact.

Scientific & Clinical Leadership

  • Provide scientific, clinical, and business leadership in hereditary cancer genetic testing and oncology care, staying current on guidelines, literature, and market trends.
  • Oversee development, review, and approval of medical content.
  • Deliver and support high-quality scientific and clinical presentations to healthcare professionals.

External Engagement

  • Support identification and engagement of regional and national KOLs and represent Myriad at medical congresses and scientific meetings.
  • Manage intake and coordination of research and evidence-generation requests through appropriate Medical Affairs channels.

Compliance & Collaboration

  • Ensure all field activities comply with corporate policies and healthcare regulations.
  • Partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial Sales, Marketing, Product, Payer Markets, Clinical Development, and Research.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, accountability, and collaboration

Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced scientific or clinical degree required (e.g., MS in Genetic Counseling or NP/PA, RN with oncology genetics certification or equivalent training).
  • Minimum of 5 years combined clinical, industry, or research experience, including at least 3 years in an MSL or similar role; diagnostic laboratory experience preferred.
  • People management, leadership, or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Deep expertise in hereditary cancer syndromes, genetic and diagnostic testing, and oncology management; molecular profiling experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage clinicians, KOLs, and academic partners with strong presentation and scientific communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with strong judgment and problem-solving skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel approximately 20-30%, including occasional weekends for conferences or meetings.
  • Ability to manage travel and expenses within budget.
  • Flexibility to support business needs and evolving priorities.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, and observing. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
