THE POSITION

Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Food Service Instructor and help guide inmates in developing valuable kitchen and workplace skills. This role allows you to support safe and efficient meal service while teaching hands-on techniques that build confidence. You will make a direct impact on daily operations and help create a positive, structured environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important part in leading food service tasks and teaching inmates how to work safely and efficiently in a kitchen environment. It supports daily meal production while promoting learning in the standard principles and practices of food service operations. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Instruction: Teach inmates food preparation, meal production, baking, and proper use of equipment
- Sanitation Oversight: Inspect food areas, supplies, and tools to ensure safe and sanitary operation
- Recipe Management: Review menus and census data, adjust recipes, and minimize food waste
- Work Coordination: Assign tasks, review performance, and maintain records for inmate workers
- Custody Maintenance: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during food service operations

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours will be be determined by open shifts at the time of hire. Possible shifts are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 11:00 am to 7:00 PM.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
