THE POSITION

The Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS) is searching for a dedicated Youth Development Counselor Manager who is ready to guide staff and support youth development at the Southeast Youth Development Center. This role allows you to make a real impact by shaping treatment programs and helping youth move toward positive futures. Each day brings new chances to lead, support, and improve services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position leads clinical and treatment efforts by guiding staff, improving service quality, and supporting the social development of youth in care. As a Youth Development Counselor Manager, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Direction: Guide staff on treatment matters and support ongoing development of youth programs
  • Training Support: Identify training needs and coordinate clinically focused training opportunities
  • Quality Oversight: Participate in reviews of clinical interventions and help implement improvement plans
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee clinical staff performance and provide regular feedback and guidance
  • Safety Monitoring: Maintain a safe environment through active supervision of staff and youth
  • Documentation Review: Ensure accurate, timely case documentation and compliance with all policies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime as operationally necessary
  • Travel is required.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Youth Development Counselor Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program, one of which was supervisory, and a bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile justice, or criminal justice; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional counseling experience, one of which was supervisory, with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program.
Other Requirements:
  • You must be willing to accept employment at Southeast Youth Development Center and commute to this location in Montgomery County.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
