Custodian Team Lead - Full Time

PURPOSE:


Act as a working lead, providing work direction, responding to the needs of team members and the operation of the housekeeping department. Lead by example in performing tasks in maintaining the cleanliness of Mall of America while providing a memorable shopping and entertainment experience.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Lead the Housekeeping team members emphasizing the cleanliness of MOA, safety cleaning practices and ensure MOA policies and standards are followed.
  • Facilitate rollcall meetings, communicating relevant information, assigning daily tasks and work locations to team members, and special projects as needed.


  • Responsible for setting up cleaning carts with daily cleaning supplies, assigning cleaning carts and radios.
  • Use radio to communication and respond to team members and leaders needs.
  • Respond to and provide team members with additional cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Monitor team member performance and address performance concerns, giving immediate feedback in respectful manner, while focusing on improvement.
  • Be a subject matter expert on department procedures and support other leads and team members in their work as needed.


  • Assist supervisors by resolving minor team member concerns, ensure breaks are taken on time, report violations of MOA policies and procedures.
  • Present positive and professional demeanor towards team members and guests


  • Train new housekeeping team members and ongoing training to current team members; adapting to individual learning styles while maintaining consistency with coverage of materials.
  • Service as the on-duty Supervisor in the absence of a Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • Assist Supervisor with inventory control, monitor and recording cleaning supply usage, checking equipment in and out, report needs for equipment repair.
  • Receive and track completed restroom checklist and cleaning logs.


  • Provide suggestions on development or enhancements of Housekeeping procedures Present positive and professional demeanor towards team members and guests
  • Perform the job duties of Custodian I, ensuring cleanliness of common area of the mall, food courts, restrooms and transit.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Must be 18 years of age.


  • 1-2 years previous housekeeping experience.
  • Previous experience in commercial cleaning, preferred.
  • Detailed oriented, strong organization and multitasking skills.


  • Previous leadership experience, preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of the safe handling of equipment and materials used in commercial custodial duties.


  • Good physical condition; ability to perform physical tasks such as extended walking, standing, lifting, and physical components of operating auto scrubber, sweeping, mopping and other custodial duties.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


While performing the duties of this job, the team member will frequently be required to speak and listen to guests, tenants and team members in order to understand their needs, respond, react and communicate a solution. Team member must also possess a level of hearing that will continuously allow them to be aware of their surroundings and recognize when a team members and guest needs their attention. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Team members are required to be able to tolerate multiple sensory stimuli at once while performing their duties. These stimuli may include: loud auditory/noise, smells/olfactory, bright lights, colors, motion, hot/cold temperatures, and other visual stimuli.

  • Reach at/below waist: Occasionally, about 40% of the time
  • Dexterity: Frequently about 80% of the time

    • Use of both hands is needed to perform duties and maintain safety standards
