Lab Assistant 1

Under supervision, Laboratory Assistant 1 performs routine laboratory support duties in support of aerosol sample preparation and analysis. The incumbent follows established protocols and standard operating procedures to prepare samples, operate analytical instrumentation, maintain records, and support day-to-day laboratory operations. Work requires attention to detail, fine motor skills, and the ability to work effectively in a high-throughput laboratory environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience working in a high-throughput or production laboratory setting.
• Experience interpreting and following laboratory procedures and standard operating protocols.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with laboratory staff and contribute to a cooperative work environment.
• Fine motor skills required to manipulate small components accurately in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks for extended periods while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
• Ability to maintain focus on individual tasks and recognize subtle changes in instrument response or performance.
• Experience in physical sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Experience using computers for data analysis, graphing, recordkeeping, and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of and hands-on experience with analytical laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience supporting aerosol, environmental, or air quality analyses.
• Experience maintaining laboratory documentation and supporting quality control practices.

Temporary Employment Services provides temporary staffing to UC Davis campus and UC Davis Health in Sacramento. Job Titles vary depending upon the functions of the assignments.

May be required to perform any of the following:

• Repetitive tasks and lift/carry objects weighing up to 25lbs.

• Be able to stand for approximately 4-5 hours/day.

• Must complete mandatory training within 15 days of hire date.

• A valid CA Driver's license may be required.

• Participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System may be required.

• Must be available to work variable shifts: days/hours (weekends, holidays, overtime, etc.) and float to other units/areas/buildings.

• Perform tasks that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety protective clothing and gloves, fume hoods, glove boxes, wearing long pants, etc.

• Personally responsible for following safety procedures and guidelines.

• May work around loud noise, dust, tight confined areas, etc.

• May work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.

• May work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.
