Job Summary
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for student-athletes participating in the NCAA intercollegiate athletics program under the supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Responsible for program design and implementation of assigned sports, assist with remaining sports, and assist with maintaining weight room area including health and safety standards. Work closely with coaches to develop team and individual programs based on the latest strength and conditioning techniques. Work closely with the certified athletic trainers to modify training programs to accommodate student-athletes in rehabilitation.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree. One (1) year of coaching experience or two (2) years playing experience in the designated sport.
Preferred Education and Experience
This position is open to candidates with a range of relevant experience, including those with more advanced or specialized skill sets.

Compensation will be determined based on education, relevant experience, and skill level. Candidates with additional experience or specialized skills beyond the minimum requirements may be considered for a higher starting salary within the department's approved hiring parameters.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master Degree in Exercise-related field

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
  • Strength & Conditioning coaching experience; knowledge of & commitment to NCAA rules

  • SCCC certification through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association
  • Experience involving the development and management of sport-specific individual and group strength training programs for a wide variety of athletes
  • Experience development and management of strength training programs at the college/university level

Other Qualifications
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary sports performance coach for assigned varsity sports teams.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor sports performance programs for designated teams.
  • Learn, instruct, and reinforce sports performance programs with assigned teams.
  • Administer fitness testing and evaluations; compute results and assess individual student-athlete performance.
  • Instruct proper lifting techniques and provide appropriate spotting during training sessions.
  • Effectively and appropriately motivate student-athletes to achieve optimal performance.
  • Communicate and collaborate with coaching staffs regarding sports performance needs and goals for their teams.
  • Assist the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach with setup, operation, and maintenance of the Varsity Weight Room and overall Sports Performance program.
  • Prepare the facility for team training sessions and assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of the facility and equipment.
  • Maintain current professional certification through the CSCCa (SCCC) or the NSCA (CSCS).
  • Pursue continuing education (CEUs) and ongoing professional development to strengthen scientific and practical knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
  • Identify and mitigate potential injury risks; implement emergency action plans and procedures in the event of injury.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and/or Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Expected to work extended hours, early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays during athletic seasons. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs., travel on a bus or in vans for an extended period of time, and must be able to stand on feet outside (if applicable) for a long period of time. Must be able to work on a team, and adjust to schedules that may change.

Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record at the time of hire.

Remote Work Notice
After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in-office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
