University Health Services (UHS) is seeking to hire two Medical Assistants to join our Primary Care team. In this essential role, you will support providers and nurses in delivering highquality, studentcentered care. Medical Assistants play a key part in maintaining smooth clinic operations by performing a combination of clinical and administrative duties, helping create an efficient and welcoming environment for every patient. You will have opportunities to work in multiple areas such as primary care, gynecology, sexual health, and community health.

This is a fulltime position. Regular working hours between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, assisting patients with billing, and coding information and answering basic medical questions
  • Performs routine vital signs, basic tests, assists with minor procedures, and administers medications as directed by a supervising clinician
  • Collects, prepares, and delivers specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepares and cleans examination rooms, instruments, and equipment for specific procedures
  • Escorts patients to various hospital locations and delivers, orders, and inventories general clinic supplies

UHS Medical Services provides high quality medical services to UW-Madison students with specialties in primary care, gynecology, sexual health, travel medicine, allergy and immunization, and physical therapy. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventative care in support of the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services.

Compensation:

The starting hourly rate for this position is $19.00, and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Current CPR/BLS certification (must be valid prior to start date)

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a healthcare setting


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care environment

  • At least one year of work experience in a healthcare setting

  • Demonstrated ability to perform patient care procedures according to established protocols, ensuring safe and consistent outcomes.

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program and/or certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA)


Preferred Certifications:


  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)


Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
