Job Summary: Lafayette Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Consultant to lead impactful projects for our federal clients, with a focus on delivering advanced geospatial analysis, data automation, and decision-support tools. This role is ideal for a candidate who excels at integrating GIS technologies with business intelligence solutions to support strategic planning, federal reporting, and stakeholder engagement. In this role, you will support a federal team of engineers who are working to identify areas where public safety needs improved broadband coverage. This entails running spatial analyses in ArcGIS Pro, collaborating with data analytics personnel (using Databricks) to process large, crowdsourced datasets, and visualizing results in multiple dashboards. This role is contingent upon contract award.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex GIS and data-driven projects by gathering client requirements and translating them into technical workflows, data products, and decision tools.
  • Perform advanced spatial analysis and modeling using ArcGIS Pro, including weighted overlays, suitability modeling, spatial joins, and raster analysis.
  • Automate geospatial and tabular data processing using Python to streamline workflows and ensure repeatability across projects.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and analytics within ArcGIS Online to visualize geospatial patterns, KPIs, and funding impacts.
  • Collaborate with clients to align solutions with program goals, policy objectives, and investment priorities.
  • Integrate multiple data sources (e.g., SQL databases, flat files, external APIs, CRM systems) to develop robust and scalable data pipelines.
  • Support data integrity, governance, and quality assurance for internal and external datasets, including geospatial, demographic, and risk index data.
  • Maintain and document metadata, processing logic, and data dictionary for reproducibility and transparency.
  • Present findings and solutions to diverse audiences including federal stakeholders, technical teams, first responders, and executive leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in GIS, as an analyst or developer
  • Expertise using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and spatial analyst tools for geospatial modeling and analysis.
  • Proven experience scripting in Python (e.g., ArcPy, GeoPandas) to automate spatial and non-spatial data processes.
  • Skilled at communicating complex geospatial and data concepts in a clear, actionable way for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with using crowdsourced data
  • Demonstrated experience and strategy for data management
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills; able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be eligible for and able to obtain a Department of Commerce public trust clearance (includes background check and fingerprinting).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal consulting projects, particularly within agencies focused on infrastructure, broadband, emergency response, or economic development.
  • Knowledge and experience with a multi-state and/or national public safety communications program or project
  • Competent in Arcade to customize widgets in ArcGIS Online Dashboards, Experience Builder, etc.
  • Experienced in using Databricks to process and analyze large scale data, utilizing libraries like PySpark, to establish ETL workflows.
  • Familiarity with Esri's Survey123 and StoryMaps for public engagement or internal review workflows.
  • Knowledge of federal geospatial programs (e.g., NTIA, FCC, Census, FEMA).
  • Existing public trust or higher-level security clearance.

Location: Remote or DC Metro Area (Reston/Hybrid)

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.
