The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Shop Supervisor to support the needs of the Facilities Department. The Assistant Shop Supervisor position exists to support the Athletics department goals of providing consistent, cost-effective and reliable maintenance and service to the athletics facilities and providing safe working conditions for shop staff. The position provides first-class service and operations to internal and external constituents with unsurpassed integrity. This position assists the Shop Supervisor in coordinating departmental assignments and sets the example for desired workplace behaviors. The Assistant Shop Supervisor sets the day-to-day schedule as dictated by the needs of the Athletics Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Assistant Shop Supervisor must adjust their work schedule as directed by Shop Supervisor, or to meet department needs. Consults with the Shop Supervisor when faced with a more challenging problem or a situation beyond the scope of their duties or expertise. Utilizes balanced decision-making skills, making effective decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information under tight deadlines and pressure. Communicates effectively with others to schedule and complete work. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements Four years of work experience in building, construction, or technical trades. Trades or construction-related education may be considered in lieu of experience, up to two years. Valid driver's license. Preferred Requirements
About the Position The salary range is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. Job requires regular walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and climbing ladders or stairs, lifting and carrying of various weights. Repetitive motion for grasping, pulling, pushing, and operating hand and power tools; work may occur in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions and environments. This position is located on the UVA Grounds in Charlottesville, VA. This is a nonexempt-level, benefited position; learn more about UVA Benefits. This is an in person position.
