Position Summary
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing cross-functional support to Auxiliary Human Resources. This incumbent's primary focus will be to aid in the initiation of transactional processes related to hiring and onboarding, executed by the Auxiliary Position Management team utilizing the Team Dynamix ticketing system. Along with this primary focus, the HR Generalist will work in coordination with the Talent Acquisitions Manager to support the orientation and onboarding of new staff members with input from leadership. Ultimately, the HR Generalist will help the Auxiliary Services HR team to ensure a positive experience with our support services that meets the division's human resources needs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, web-based platforms, and able to easily train on new programs or systems.
  • General office skills: Telephone, Office Machines, and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and provide technical advice and guidance in relevant Human Resources disciplines.
  • Problem solve and propose viable options for solutions.
  • Compile information, prepare analytical reports, create, compose, and edit written manuals and employee correspondence, and prioritize workload.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Position Management:

  • Process all incoming service requests utilizing Team Dynamix Ticketing System.
  • Create job postings in UGAJobs from pre-approved materials provided by leadership in a timely manner.
  • Prepare hiring proposals and candidate qualifications; exercise independent judgment to determine appropriate salary offerings and draft complex justifications for exceptions to standard pay scales.
  • Prepare the pre-employment and background check adjudication process, making final recommendations on candidate eligibility based on university policy and the execution of official offer letters.
  • Design and facilitate comprehensive onboarding programs that ensure legal compliance (I-9) and cultural integration for new staff.
  • Review, analyze, and approve/deny departmental position and posting requests and hiring proposals in coordination with the Position Management Manager.
  • Initiate job postings, position modifications/evaluations, and hiring proposals as needed.
  • Initiate employee status changes in a timely fashion, including but not limited to terminations, retirements, and salary rate adjustments.
  • Decision making - decides orientation and start dates based on candidates and units needs
  • Demonstrate a high level of rigor and attentiveness to detail to ensure documentation is correctly entered and filed

HRIS/Compensation:

  • Aid in collecting, maintaining, and providing various forms of data to support HR processes.
  • Provide support and produce materials needed for compensation analysis and reviews.
  • Generates internal compensation audits as advised by management.
  • Initiator for HCM processes (Ad Hoc Salary Changes, Time and Absence Approver Changes, Express Direct Retros, Terminations, etc.).
  • Manage the collection and maintenance of HR data; audit HCM processes to ensure system integrity and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure supporting materials for terminations are received and submitted in a timely manner.

  • Organize and maintain staff personnel files.
  • Respond to various general unit/staff inquiries related to support services provided by Auxiliary Human Resources.
  • Provide reports and feedback to aid in strategy development to ensure workflow efficiency.
  • May assist with division-wide special events and initiatives.
  • Provide HR support as necessary to the division staff and leadership.
