SMT Lead

Pro-Active Engineering is looking for a SMT Lead that heads up the SMT department by producing quality products and trained SMT employees while overseeing department employees, quality, maintenance, budgets, reports, supplies, scheduling and troubleshooting. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

1. Adhere to the company's ISO Quality Management System.

2. Provide employee coaching and development.

3. Assign and oversee the following work daily for direct reports.

4. Review and disposition nonconforming product and determine appropriate resolution.

5. Work toward continuous improvement of assigned area.

6. Follow internal assembly process documentation ensuring product meets internal, customer, and regulatory requirements.

7. Work with management to understand the production schedule as it pertains to the SMT area, and the resources required to meet this demand.

8. Work with management and other internal resources to program layouts before scheduled production runs.

9. Troubleshoot machine problems, to include, but not limited to, machine failures, placement issues, programming issues, package problems, screen printing issues, reflow oven profiles, and quality.

10. Ensure completion of SMT equipment maintenance according to established procedures and document appropriately.

11. Remove parts that do not meet production process standards and notify management of product discrepancies and/or equipment malfunctions.

12. Provide production feedback.

13. Hold morning meetings with your team to assign tasks.

14. Work with management to create and maintain an area budget as it pertains to area upkeep.

15. Review boards, components, and post assembly for defects and consistency to ensure accuracy.

16. Work overtime as needed (with management approval) in area to meet scheduled ship dates.

17. Act as a role model and leader to other employees while maintaining and promoting a positive attitude.

18. Train and assist other SMT area employees with job related tasks with assistance from management.

19. Oversee the completion of training requirements for SMT employees.

20. During machine downtime, assist other SMT employees as needed, i.e. training, loading and unloading jobs, screen printing, etc.

21. Measure and oversee changeover.

22. Ensure that team members are logging time in ERP system.

This position oversees daily tasks for all employees in the assigned area. Leads act as a coach and mentor for assigned employees.
