Job Description & Qualifications:

Job Summary

The Community Safety Simulation Center (CSSC) Learning Facilitator provides instructional support by facilitating structured debriefings and reflective learning discussions for simulation-based and applied learning experiences. The role supports learner development in areas such as decision-making, communication, teamwork, and professional practice using established CSSC materials and facilitation approaches. This position fosters a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe learning environment that encourages engagement and reflection. Working in collaboration with CSSC staff, the facilitator ensures consistent delivery of learning experiences. The facilitator models professional behavior, maintains confidentiality, and complies with all NTC and CSSC policies and training expectations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.

Learning Facilitation

  • Facilitate pre-designed simulation-based learning activities using approved CSSC materials, scripts, and established learning objectives without modification.

  • Lead structured debriefings using CSSC-approved debriefing models, as designated for each learning activity.

  • Guide learners through reflective discussion to support clinical reasoning, communication, teamwork, and professional practice aligned with established learning outcomes.

  • Reinforce learning outcomes developed by CSSC Operations and Technology staff; does not independently alter or create learning objectives.

  • Facilitate learner discussion related to organizational or program-specific policies as presented within the scenario, referring interpretive or policy-specific questions to appropriate institutional representatives when needed.

Learner Support & Collaboration

  • Foster a psychologically safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages learner reflection and engagement.

  • Provide observational, formative feedback within the scope of the learning activity and debriefing session; does not perform summative evaluation unless explicitly assigned.

  • Identify and communicate learner concerns, performance issues, or support needs to the CSSC full-time staff in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with full-time CSSC staff to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of simulation-based learning experiences across sessions.

Professional Practice

  • Model professional behaviors consistent with simulation-based education standards and professional learning environments.

  • Maintain confidentiality of learner performance, scenario content, and institutional information in accordance with NTC and CSSC policies.

  • Complete and maintain required training related to facilitation practices, debriefing methodologies, psychological safety, and CSSC operational protocols.

  • Participate in periodic performance feedback or calibration activities as requested to ensure ongoing alignment with CSSC facilitation standards.

Minimum Qualifications Required

In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Equivalent experience could be accepted.

Experience: 5 Years

Additional Experience Information:

Served as a subject matter expert for one of the following CSSC focus areas: Healthcare, Law Enforcement, School Safety, Places of Worship, OR Manufacturing.

Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, reports and emails; speak and may present information to groups.

Ability to understand complex concerns and formulate solutions; communicate professionally with various audiences in different situations.
