Job Description:

Microchip in Beverly, MA is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems used in the manufacturing and characterization of atomic clocks, oscillators, timing modules, and related frequency-control products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test software for production environments.
  • Implement test sequences that measure key product parameters in compliance with formal product specifications.
  • Develop applications using C, C#, Python, VB.NET, SQL, and related languages.
  • Interface with and control industrial and laboratory equipment, including Environmental Chambers, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Frequency Counters, Phase Noise Analyzers, and RF/Timing Measurement Instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define test requirements.
  • Troubleshoot test failures and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Improve test architectures, automation frameworks, and data analysis tools.
  • Generate documentation for software, procedures, and test systems.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Person capable of working with products and information controlled under EAR and ITAR regulations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience developing automated test systems or equivalent engineering software.
  • Strong proficiency in C, C#, Python, VB.NET, SQL, and related development tools.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, measurement fundamentals, and signal analysis.
  • Understanding of software-based control of test instruments and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience developing automated test sequences for manufacturing or engineering environments.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing automated test systems or equivalent engineering software.
  • Experience with RF, timing, or frequency-control products (oscillators, OCXOs, atomic clocks).
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with precision measurement systems and long-term stability testing.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous-improvement practices.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304-$143,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
