The primary role of the
ISSS Graduate Assistant position is to assist the staff of the Global Engagement Office's International Student and Scholar Services (
ISSS) unit, in serving international students and scholars at
UNCG. The Graduate Assistant will have the opportunity to gain well-rounded experience in an international education office setting. For a candidate considering a career in the international education field, the office may provide opportunities for advisor shadowing, international programming participation, and conference attendance.
The position responsibilities include:
1. Assisting in the collection, preparation, and review of immigration relevant documents utilizing email, Slate System, and Terra Dotta Case Management System.
2. Assisting with tracking status of prospective international students' applications to support staff in providing fast and accurate communication to admitted students.
3. Serve as the first point of contact for international students and scholars who visit the Global Engagement office. They assess needs, assist with requests, and direct students/scholars to the appropriate staff member.
4. Support in cultural programming for international student and scholars including but not limited to International Education Week,
ISSS workshops, International Student Orientation and other special projects as assigned.
5. Monitoring the unit's general email inbox and respond to requests in a timely manner
6. Other administrative tasks and specific projects assigned based on office needs |
