We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts across Dentrix Enterprise and axiUm Academic. These platforms support a wide range of customers - from large DSOs to academic dental institutions - requiring a leader who can navigate complex clinical, operational, and enterprise workflows while driving innovation and consistency across both environments. You lead with a commitment to building high-quality, maintainable software, and bring project management and Scrum expertise to drive outcomes. You communicate clearly, set expectations effectively, and confidently partner with high-priority customers to triage and resolve escalations. This position will be remote in the United States with the ability to travel up to 10% or hybrid in our American Fork, UT office 2-3 days per week. What You Will Do Oversee and advance multiple development teams in the US and Canada, aligning their efforts with product strategy Drive clarity, accountability, and alignment through effective communication of goals, priorities, and status to team members and stakeholders Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development to attract and retain top engineering talent Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement Promote engineering excellence within your domain while ensuring product security, compliance, quality, and reliability Improve developer experience for scalable, continuous delivery Mentor and inspire team leaders and their teams Collaborate with senior leadership on vision and strategy Technologies We Use Languages & Frameworks: C#, C++, .NET Databases:SQL Server DevOps & Tools:GitLab, Jira, Splunk, Azure DevOps Architecture: Client-Server Desktop Applications and Windows Native Applications What You Will Have 10+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a minimum of 3-5 years leading high performing software engineering teams Proven impact in senior engineering leadership roles Proven success leading distributed or hybrid engineering teams at scale Excellent knowledge of SDLC, including Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices Ability to lead through influence, resolve conflict, and build consensus across functions Clear, empathetic communicator who thrives in collaborative environments Analytical, strategic thinker who can balance tech debt, innovation, and delivery Passionate about people development and organizational growth Adaptable and excited by change in a fast-moving environment Committed to high standards of software quality and integrity Optimistic, proactive, and grounded in purpose Active Public Trust Security Clearance or higher is preferred. Candidates without clearance must be willing to undergo the clearance process upon receiving a job offer. The posted range for this position is$175,000 - $210,000which is the expected starting salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc. This position is eligible for a bonus target not reflected in the range.
