Watlow Plasmatech GmbH, based in Kuchl, Austria, is a Technology Development Center within Watlow, focused on advanced Plasma Spray heater technology and integrated thermal system solutions. We develop and scale innovative thermal solutions for our targeted customers across Europe and globally in the Semiconductor and Industrial markets, supporting them from early design through industrialization.

We are hiring a: Junior R&D Engineer - Product & Technology Development Support


Location: Kuchl (onsite)



About the Role


This role strengthens the Kuchl Technology Development Center by taking a key role in testing, validation and the development of test capabilities.


The primary focus is on building, maintaining, and continuously improving test setups and test equipment, ensuring reliable validation of products and technologies.


In addition, the role supports internal and customer-facing development projects by contributing to structured testing, data generation, and technical validation.
The position works closely with experienced team members at the Kuchl site and collaborates with the global test organization, particularly the TDC in St. Louis.



What You'll Do


Testing, Validation & Test Capability Development (Core Focus)



  • Plan, prepare, and execute reliability and performance tests, measurements, and validation activities.


  • Support the setup, maintenance, and continuous improvement of test equipment and test setups at the Kuchl site.


  • Contribute to the development of new test capabilities, including fixtures, instrumentation, and procedures.


  • Analyze test data and support identification of improvement opportunities.


  • Contribute to root cause analysis and validation of design changes.
  • Collaborate with the global test organization, especially the TDC in St. Louis, to align test methods, standards, and capabilities.


Engineering Project Support



  • Support internal and external product and technology development projects through structured testing and validation.


  • Contribute to prototyping, testing, and iterative development activities.
  • Support preparation of technical data, reports, and documentation.


Collaboration & Learning



  • Work closely with experienced engineers and technicians within the Kuchl TDC.


  • Learn from and collaborate with senior team members during onboarding and capability build-up.


  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Application Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and disciplined execution within the TDC.



What You'll Need to Succeed


Education



  • HTL, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.


Experience & Mindset



  • First experience in R&D, testing, laboratory, or technical project environments.


  • Strong interest in testing, validation, and hands-on engineering work.


  • Basic understanding of measurement techniques, instrumentation, or experimental setups is an advantage.


  • Structured, analytical, and detail-oriented working style.


  • Hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills.


  • Curiosity and openness to leverage digital tools and AI-supported solutions to enhance engineering efficiency and data analysis.


  • Motivation to grow into a technical expert in testing and validation.


Languages



  • German: fluent
  • English: working proficiency

  • The minimum gross monthly salary for this position is EUR 3.500 (14 payments per year). Overpayment is possible depending on qualifications and experience.
