In the Space Planning & Experience Design Intern - Innovation & Technology Center role, you'll support the Managing Director's vision for reimagining key spaces within the ITC, with a focus on the education area and lab environment. Working at the direction of the Managing Director, you'll conduct research, contribute foundational design work, and support early planning and implementation activities that shape how customers engage with emerging trends, industry challenges, and solution concepts in senior health. This work includes helping create interactive exhibit experiences that make important trends more tangible, as well as supporting lab spaces that guide customers in defining critical business challenges and exploring practical solution pathways. Through this role, you'll gain hands-on experience in space planning, experience design, and customer-centered innovation while helping create environments that demonstrate Direct Supply's commitment to solving real problems in senior health.

What You'll Do and Impact:

  • Support the Managing Director in executing the vision for reimagining the Innovation & Technology Center, with a focus on the education area and lab space.

  • Conduct research on design concepts, materials, furniture, layouts, and interactive experiences that support how customers engage with emerging trends, business challenges, and solution pathways in senior health.

  • Contribute foundational design work for the education area, helping create exhibits and hands-on experiences that make complex trends and topics more tangible and relevant for customers.

  • Support the design and evolution of the lab space experience, including environments and activities that help customers define key business challenges and explore practical solution options.

  • Help develop preliminary drawings, layouts, renderings, boards, and presentations that communicate renovation concepts, customer-use scenarios, and spatial experience goals.

  • Support planning and implementation efforts by organizing project information, preparing documentation, coordinating design materials, and researching applicable life safety, building code, and regulatory requirements.

  • Contribute to environments that reinforce Direct Supply's focus on helping customers solve real problems in senior health through a mix of products, services, and innovation partnerships.

Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Experience Design, Exhibition Design, Environmental Design, or a related field (Associate's or Bachelor's degree), with a graduation date of May 2027 or later.

  • Currently enrolled in an Interior Design program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree) or relatedwith a graduation date of May '27 or later.

  • Availability to work 15-20 hours/week during the academic year

  • Ability to work full-time during summer and academic breaks

Additional Items of Interest:

  • Previous experience in design studios, customer service, or a related internship is a plus

  • Familiarity with senior living environments is helpful but not required

  • Demonstrates initiative in learning building codes and technical regulations, with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to support documentation and communication needs.
