Early-Career Environmental Geologist

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Environmental Geologist in our San Diego, California office, as part of our contaminated site assessment & remediation practice. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public-sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M.
• Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation.
• Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, and implementation.
• Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses.
• Groundwater modeling and 3D data visualization.
• Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.
• Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures.
• Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science. (required)
• Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
• Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or on track to obtain GIT. (preferred)

• Prior academic or research experience in contaminated media and/or remediation technology (preferred)
• Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
• Observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling and logging using the USCS classification, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques. (preferred)
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
• Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

• Minimum: $70,304/year / Maximum: $74,220/year or Minimum: $28.54/hour / Maximum: $33.80/hour (San Diego, CA)
