Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Practice Leader - Environmental Engineer or Geoscientist to join our business in Wilmington, North Carolina; a hybrid work schedule may be available at the Company's discretion. You will interact with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals throughout North Carolina and the U.S. and will provide leadership and client development for a wide range of environmental engineering and consulting projects to supplement our existing environmental due diligence, compliance, brownfields redevelopment, vapor intrusion, and remediation services. You will be developing and supporting national and international clients across a wide range of sectors including real estate, manufacturing, legal, and municipal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities for this position include:

    Managing tasks and projects, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation, budgeting, and adhering to schedule, all the while focusing on quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Leading successful business development efforts, including leading proposal efforts;
  • Developing site-specific mitigation, remedial, and closure strategies for challenging and complex projects, including brownfields redevelopments;
  • Maintaining client contacts, participating in relevant professional organizations, and attending and presenting at industry events;
  • Supervising and mentoring early- and mid-career professionals and managing subcontractors;
  • Overseeing the preparation of reports and client deliverables under applicable state and federal regulations and guidance;
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders;
  • Reviewing and interpretating pending and new regulations and developing strategies for clients; and
  • At times, the job may also include fieldwork including site visits, oversight of multimedia environmental sampling, and subcontractor oversight;
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree environmental science, chemistry, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, or a related field of study. (required)
  • Advanced degree in a related field of study. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (e.g. P.G. or P.E.). (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years (10+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience, preferably in the Carolina marketplaces, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • A strong track record in business development, including proposals leadership, and stewarding and building client relationships with repeat business. (required)
  • Understanding of North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) guidance documents and risk evaluation resources. (preferred)
  • Experience planning and overseeing multi-media field work, including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air investigations (preferred)
  • Experience with environmental due diligence and regulatory compliance projects (preferred).
  • Experience with environmental assessment tools and techniques and remedial technologies. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products. (required)
  • Ability to make presentations at industrial conferences and at client meetings. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
