Position Summary
The Demand Planner is a key member of the Supply Chain team responsible for managing material demand forecasting and planning activities across multiple manufacturing product lines, involving the following trades and processes steel fabrication, pipe fabrication, process piping skids, electrical modular fabrication, modular buildingsThis role will ensure accurate demand forecasting, optimize inventory levels, maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM), and align material releases with lead times and the shop production plan.
Role Responsibilities
Forecasting & Planning
  • Develop and maintain demand forecasts using historical data, sales inputs, production schedules, and market intelligence.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Procurement to incorporate demand signals into the forecast and supply plan.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and performance and make recommendations to improve forecasting models and processes.
Material Planning & BOM Ownership
  • Own and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned product lines; ensure accuracy and alignment with production needs.
  • Evaluate and adjust material requirements based on component lead times, production schedules, and inventory levels.
  • Generate and release material requirements and purchase requisitions to meet production demands while minimizing excess inventory.
Inventory & Supply Coordination
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with Procurement to prioritize materials with long lead times.
  • Identify potential stockouts, excess inventory, and supply chain constraints; recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Planning & Reporting
  • Support the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process through data inputs and scenario analysis.
  • Create and distribute regular reports on forecast vs. actual, inventory status, demand trends, and supplier performance.
  • Use ERP systems (EPM, Power Fab, Smart Sheets, Radley, Viewpoint) and planning tools to drive decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and systems, including automation, analytics, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead efforts to enhance planning accuracy, reduce lead times, and lower operating costs.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory/demand planning, materials planning, supply chain, or related functions; manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with ERP systems, Excel, and forecasting/planning tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to manufacturing sites and with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with Lean/S&OP principles is a plus.
Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
