| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Periodontology discipline focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, as well as the management of gum and tissue inflammation resulting from existing dental conditions |
| Position Summary |
The Marchesan Lab is composed of a group of talented individuals that aim to understand the different biological mechanisms that lead to periodontal and periapical bone resorption. Specifically, we investigate how different innate immune players drive periodontal destruction. We use this information to target different pathways to prevent bone resorption and promote bone neo-formation. Procedures performed in this job include laboratory work, animal experiments and manuscript writing.
The Postdoctorate Research Associate will independently develop experiments and safe laboratory protocols. In addition, the researchers should retain accurate records of their research findings, have the ability to analyses data and generate results and have the appropriate skills to present their research findings, which includes in-person research presentations and preparation of research manuscripts'.
The applicant must possess good problem-solving abilities, be a team player and have the skills to independently plan daily experimental activities.
Required skills:
- Experience performing the ligature-induced periodontitis mouse model
- Experience in leading experiments with mice and rats |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
DDS and PhD in immunology or related field |
| Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Previous experience with cell culture, mouse/rat models of disease, molecular biology
Proficient in Microsoft excel, word and power point. |
