POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the General Manager, and in cooperation and coordination with both the Sales Manager and the VP of Engineering, supports the Management, Sales and Engineering teams as needed to obtain optimum operational efficiency, economy of operations and maximization of company profits. This position may at times function in the role of a system salesperson when needed. Likewise, this position may at times fulfill the role of senior mechanical engineer and project manager when needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the General Manager and Management Team with development of budgets, forecasts, business plans and growth plans.
  • Supports the recruiting process for new staff and team members, including assisting in the selection of qualified staff in all positions.
  • Supports the management team, assisting in the development of employees for present position and career path; providing supervision, guidance and leadership to staff; ensuring employees function with the highest level of effectiveness, productivity, and consistency with established policies and procedures; identifying and initiating appropriate training; and ensuring good working relations between employees, departments, customers and suppliers.
  • Evaluates and prepares recommendations for ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency in the areas of sales, engineering, equipment, controls and installation.
  • Assists in planning, developing and implementing company policies and goals, and establishes office standards and procedures.

  • Assists and supports the Sales Manager with creating a plan for company growth.
  • Assists and supports both the Sales Manager and Sales Team with day-to-day activities.
  • Develops plans and strategies for new business development.
  • Works with the Sales Manager and Sales Team to promote the sale of systems, products, equipment, services and parts to develop new markets, new customers, increase market share and maintain competitive position in industry.
  • Assists the Sales Manager and Sales Team with preparation and presentation of proposals as needed.
  • Assumes the role of system salesperson, as required, to supplement departmental resources.

  • Supports the VP of Engineering as an available resource as needed to quote, implement, and commission engineered projects and systems.
  • Participates in areas of concepting, written communications, total system pricing, and project "estimates to complete."
  • Evaluates all potential projects with Sales and Engineering staff to ensure the company is developing appropriate proposal strategies.
  • Assists with proposal reviews for accuracy and risk assessment prior to release.
  • Assists the Engineering team in the field during system implementation and/or system start-up as necessary.
  • Assists the Sales Manager and Sales Team with technical presentations as needed.
  • Participates in financial review meetings on all ongoing projects.
  • Conducts a continuous search for new processes, technologies, vendors and procedures, insuring they meet the Company's specifications and performance criteria.
  • Assumes the role of Senior Project Engineer, as required, to supplement departmental resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the material handling industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical systems experience, including concepting, knowledge of controls, installation and purchasing.
  • Skilled with the engineering of a wide variety of basic, new, unique or difficult solutions for material handling systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing other engineers.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but able to recognize and support the Company's preferences and priorities.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated outstanding performance in previous career.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the material handling industry.
  • Demonstrated experience, proficiency and outstanding performance in the concepting, design, estimating, implementation and project management of complex material handling systems.
  • Demonstrated experience, proficiency and outstanding performance in the proposal development, presentation and sale of complex material handling systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
  • Proficiency with CRM software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Travel as required to support Company needs, up to 25%, typically contained to the contiguous (48) United States.
