DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Clerical Intern with PennDOT, you will have the opportunity to enhance your professional skill set while acquiring new methods and work habits to help you excel in your future career. Within this role, you will be responsible for answering incoming phone calls, communicating messages and important information to the proper personnel, and providing detailed reports regarding road concerns to the appropriate assistant manager. Clerical functions will entail sorting and inputting material data, preparing spreadsheets and reports, making copies, filing documents, and various other office support duties. You will utilize systems such as Microsoft Word and Excel in order to complete assignments. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Internship will run from July 2026 - June 2027.
- Work schedule will vary based on agreement between the Commonwealth supervisor and the school, at time of hire.
- Intern will be scheduled 28 hours per week during the school year and 37.5/40 hours per week during school vacation and breaks.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- You must be at least 16 years of age at time of hire.
- You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2026 - 2027 school year.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
- Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
- By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
- Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
- You must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved vocational program that has provided preparation and training for the duties of this internship.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
