Overview
The Manager, Safety Compliance is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety programs and policies within the organization. This role ensures that all safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies are followed to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. The Safety Compliance Manager works closely with leadership, employees, and regulatory agencies to prevent accidents, minimize risks, and foster a culture of safety.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain safety compliance programs and policies that meet or exceed regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, state and local safety laws).
- Regularly review and update safety policies to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
- Ensure all employees are trained on safety practices and understand the company's safety policies.
- Ensure the organization complies with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and guidelines.
- Monitor and track changes to safety regulations and ensure timely updates to internal policies.
- Prepare and submit safety-related reports to regulatory agencies, such as OSHA incident reports, safety audits, and inspections.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify compliance with safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels, focusing on hazard identification, emergency response procedures, safe work practices, and the use of safety equipment.
- Conduct regular safety drills, including fire, evacuation, and first aid drills.
- Ensure that employees are properly equipped and know how to use safety equipment such as PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, or safety violations to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze accident trends and recommend strategies to reduce workplace risks and improve safety performance.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and operations to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
- Perform regular internal safety audits to assess adherence to safety procedures and compliance with regulations.
- Identify areas of improvement and work with departments to implement corrective actions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements when necessary.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for potential accidents or disasters (e.g., fires, chemical spills, natural disasters).
- Ensure the proper implementation of emergency protocols, including evacuation procedures and the availability of emergency equipment.
- Work closely with management and department heads to integrate safety practices into everyday operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns and compliance questions from employees, contractors, or external stakeholders.
- Report safety performance metrics, incidents, and compliance issues to senior leadership.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the organization's safety culture and safety programs to foster a proactive, safety-first mindset.
- Keep up to date with new safety technologies, practices, and industry trends to ensure the company's safety programs remain effective and current.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, accident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure that safety documentation is accessible, organized, and up-to-date for audits and regulatory reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in safety, compliance, or risk management, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour certification preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar safety certification is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.), and risk management practices.
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety standards (e.g., construction, manufacturing, healthcare).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to train and motivate others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating incidents and identifying safety hazards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software (e.g., incident tracking systems, reporting tools).

Compensation Range
USD $59,000.00 - USD $84,000.00 /Yr.
