Responsibilities

Stationary Engineer, Full Time

The Stationary Engineer is responsible for inspecting, operating, maintaining, and repairing high pressure lines, steam boilers, chiller and chilled water, medical gas, emergency power, and life safety systems critical to hospital operations, This role ensures a safe, reliable, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to healthcare regulatory requirements such as Joint Commission, NFPA, CMS, AHJ and state/local codes.

Qualifications

Stationary Engineer Job Requirements:

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or HVAC systems preferred.

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience as a stationary engineer, operating engineer, or building systems technician required (healthcare experience preferred).
  • Experience with boilers, chillers, and complex building automation systems (BAS).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in one or more of the following areas: steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller systems, water distribution systems, cooling towers and air handling systems.

License / Certification:

  • State or municipal engineering license (e.g., 1st/2nd Class Engineer, Operating Engineer) preferred.
  • Boiler operator certification preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of steam distribution systems, condensate systems, large chiller, cooling tower and air handling system, as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and water distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with building automation systems.
  • Strong problemsolving and diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in a fastpaced healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Travel Requirements: May need to travel to off-site locations.

A neighborhood hospital with medical center excellence! The new state-of-the-art hospital will join UHS' growing regional network of healthcare operations which includes Wellington Regional Medical Center, the ER at Westlake (an extension of Wellington Regional Medical Center), Wellington Physicians Urgent Care and other healthcare services and access points. The Alan B. Miller Medical Center will feature 150 private patient rooms, a medical office building and a helistop. Upon completion of the initial phase of the project, the hospital campus will include 365,000 square feet of hospital and medical office space. The new Medical Center will offer comprehensive medical services including Emergency Care, Orthopedics and Surgical Services, Oncology, Cardiovascular and Neurosurgical services. In addition, the campus will be home to medical office buildings that will provide outpatient services.
