This position is hourly: Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm
The Safety Coordinator takes ownership of promoting and sustaining an injury-free workplace by leading initiatives that train, support, and empower employees at all levels. This role encourages active participation in safety programs and drives continuous improvement of plant processes to ensure a culture of health, safety, and operational excellence.
- Lives the Owens Corning Safety Standard "Safer Together" and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment.
- Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.
- Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety.
- Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate asset operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec.
- Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on-the-job injury when it occurs, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
- Participates in the safety, quality, Autonomous Maintenance (AM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, Training, etc.
- Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.
- Understands and ensures compliance with our Lock Tag Try system. Respect for the potential hazards within the manufacturing operation. Training and regular auditing of the process.
TPM
- Participates in plant TPM initiatives
Job Duties
As training and experience facilitate:
- Understands the critical nature of personal leadership by example and uses his/her own personal level of high engagement to encourage others.The Safety Coordinator will demonstrate a sincere desire to be a part of our team, our efforts, and our goals.
- Provides safety training to new hires.
- Update and maintain LTT program.
- Write JHA's and Standard Work and train others
- All other duties as assigned or needed

- Follow standard operating procedures and processes.

- Able to effectively communicate (read, write, speak, understand) English
COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES
- Able to effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
- Prior manufacturing experience is helpful
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Remain drug free.
- Have work schedule flexibility (possible rotating shifts; mandatory overtime).
- Be able to work in an environment as follows:
- Extreme temperature variation.
- Sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable (hearing protection is provided).
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and/or using full upper / lower body movement for process.
