This is a full-time, onsite, Scientist 1 - Asbestos Analyst position located in Oklahoma City, OK,Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Join us as an Asbestos Analyst and put your passion for science to work in our environmental testing laboratory. In this role, you'll conduct hands-on analysis within our laboratories, helping ensure the integrity and quality of environmental data that impacts communities and ecosystems.

The Asbestos Analyst will perform routine analysis of environmental samples for asbestos using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). This role supports Pace's asbestos analytical operations by preparing, analyzing, and reporting sample results in accordance with established methods and quality standards. The position will also receive additional training in Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) for airborne fiber analysis and may be cross trained in environmental mold microscopy.

What You'll Do

  • Perform and support the analysis of environmental samples using established microscopy methods, including Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) for bulk asbestos and Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) for airborne fiber analysis.

  • Prepare slides, conduct fiber identification, and interpret optical characteristics in accordance with approved analytical methods and quality protocols.

  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate microscopes and related laboratory equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance and data reliability.

  • Accurately document all procedures, observations, and analytical results to maintain complete, organized, and highquality laboratory records.

  • Follow all safety procedures, quality control requirements, and standard operating procedures to support analytical results.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology/Biology/Microbiology/Chemistry/Biochemistry, or a closely related science field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience .We are happy to provide training!

  • Ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment, including standing for extended periods, working around strong odors, and wearing required PPE (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves-all provided by Pace).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gases, noxious odors, and related items in a lab and sample setting.
